it is going to be released by september 30th

apple confirmed there will be a fix for the health kit in a future software update and promised to fix by the end of this month.

I hope that iOS 8.0.1 won't have the same, or even half the disk space requirement as GM, basically forcing the user to reset an almost-full device in order to upgrade ... Would be annoying and time consuming in such a short span of time.

Do I'm assuming 8.xx will be the last updates for the 4S?

I think you're right, as Apple has stopped selling the 4S.

I'm happy with the direction iOS is going, except Quality control. This iOS is the buggiest I've used. iOS 7 ended up being great- they needed more time for this one.

iOS 7 was pretty much like this in the beginning too and ended up being great as you mentioned. So sounds like there's good likelihood the same might happen with iOS 8.

Quite possibily. I hadn't any problems at first with iOS7. Also, turns out my problems were hardware related. I took my phone back to Apple and they exchanged it out for a new phone, fresh out of the packaging :) I'm pleased now that my phone is syncing.

Inside word as per Slashdot is October 15. Not sure how that fixes the Health App by the end of this month. Maybe the Health fiasco fix will be 8.01 this month and the"real" point release will be Oct 15 now indexed to 8.02 instead?

iPhone 6 and 6 plus has got same issues with other models..and Apple MUST BE fix them a.s.a.p. i think this week (25-26 September) We'll get an update 8.0.1 for more stability and without HealthApp fix..and on October..We'll get another fix 8.0.2 HealthApp included and other bunch of fixes inside..

Don't they usually release betas to devs first or is that not the case with .1 releases?

Could be photoshopped. Assuming it is real, though, any idea of a release date, or release notes?

Nah it is real. I remember with iOS 7.1.x or 7.0.x he appeared, posted ss with build number and later after Apple released it had same build number.
Seems he have been working on carrier software department or smt like that.
But he doesn't say alot that time, only build number, maybe this time will post changelog atleast lol

correction:. iOS7 much worse in the beginning due to battery munching. It also permanently fried the Wi-Fi hardware on lots of iPhone 4. This is nowhere near as bad.
