Id be happier if apple just released an IOS upgrade every two years and it worked. Keep the beta testing in the background away from users.

If Apple does what you are suggesting these forums will be flooded with "Android updates their OS every year. Why does it take Apple so long to add new features?"

Can't wait to get a hold of it. Issues with 8.1 that I have:

- random wifi lag
- landscape and portrait issues

Are you having an issue with Landscape mode reverting back to the home screen when using Safari? This is happening on my 6 Plus.

You guys and your "WiFi issues". I have had every iPhone since day 1 and just about every other iPad and never had any WiFi issues. I am willing to bet it's your WiFi set-ups which would explain your problems on some networks and not others. People just want something to complain about.

I've had every iPhone since the the original in 2007. Never had any "WiFi issues" til iPhone 6 and iOS 8. I now get random disconnects on every wifi network I've tried. Home, work, school, coffee shop, you name it. Even when using the Apple Store's Wifi.

Yes, exactly. Mildly annoying.

It's not my wifi setup, speed or cable provider.

Gees, hope jailbreak patch isn't part of the change list...

It is. Pangu JB team has already reported it.
Guess I may have to chose between functional wifi and jailbreak.
Probably will choose jailbreak, since I've lost faith in Apple's ability to fix it. I'd hate to update and lose the ability to jailbreak only to find that wifi still doesn't work.
Thank goodness for T-mo's unlimited LTE!

Didn't see it mentioned. But, has anyone deleted and re-added network then did a soft reboot on phone.

Yes, I have to do that every time I want to re-join a wifi network that I've used before. Simply telling iPhone to forget the network and then signing in again works for me. Soft reboot not needed.
Still have to re enter password each time which is a bit tiresome to do several times a day.

That sucks. Not sure if I have an issue. I only lost it once while downloading from Flixster. Caused me to go over gb limit. Cx Flixster. Was at home and always auto connect to my wifi. First time it happened. So, need to watch it.

Good for you.

The problem is/was very real. I haven't really noticed any wifi dropouts since upgrading to 8.1 (maybe once), but 8.0-8.02 definitely had regular wifi dropouts where it would disconnect from wifi and no networks would show up for selection in the list of wifi networks for up to several minutes at a time. Happened on both my iP6 and my wife's iP6 on iOS 8.0-8.02 on 3 different wireless routers. Along with tons of other forum members.

But you're right - we all just "want something to complain about".

From a video released comparing iOS 8.1 and 8.1.1 there doesn't seem to be much improvement in performance on the 4s unless it mean performance within apps. Boot time is actually a bit longer.

You've nailed it... Android is upgraded every year, but brcouse of lack.of "sand boxing", major players like Samsung will not see it on their devices until late 2015, I'm afraid...

I dunno about that. Most Android users I know don't ever update their OS, ever. A lot of them couldn't even if they wanted too due to their phones not being supported. I honestly think that is one of the biggest drivers of people migrating to iOS from Android.

Maybe we should wait a few days and see if that is still the case.
Isn't it that after an update some kind of cache/update still takes place the first few hours on your iOS device after an iOS update?

I hope it will be as fast again as 7.1.2 so I can update my 4S to the latest OS version and still have a smooth/fast phone.

I'm assuming this has already been done, the guy did do a boot up test and restored which makes me believe the device likely already indexed spotlight.

So because it doesn't happen to you it must be non-existent right? Pretty ignorant comment.

Well I had enough and did what a few others did - ordered a new router in the hope it will solve the wifi issue. I went for the Asus RT68u. It should arrive tomorrow and I'll test it out over the weekend and report back here
