You said it meant nothing, I was just using an extreme example. Ex it's unlikely for Apple to release updates on weekends, so Tuesday - Friday are more probable. There is still a trend even here.

You are getting closer. More Mondays in the mix than Fridays. :) Not sure I ever remember a Friday ever but certainly there could be. So Mon-Thurs more probable I would say.

It'd be funny if the release notes just said:

  • Resolved a bug that caused the Tips app not to update properly.
Meanwhile, we're all anxiously waiting for an exterminator to save us from the bugs.

Unfortunately you may not be that far off. I really do think they have a couple of schleps off in the corner working on these fixes while all the other engineers work on everything els coming up. We had far too many updates that barely fixed anything.

The only thing giving me any kind of hope is that they have been testing the update with Apple employees for almost 3 weeks now.

My theory is that Tim has been doing some ball busting on the iOS team. And it wants to make very sure this update actually fixes things and doesn't cause all kinds of more crazy issues. Basically I take this long wait as Tim saying "what you have been producing is crap. Fix it, fix it right, then I'll send it to your fellow employees first just to make sure you get it right, then we will talk about releasing it to the public." I have strong faith in Tim that he won't let the same mistake happen multiple times without stepping in eventually. Now it's probably that eventually.

...and any further delay means that Apple employees *are* reporting bugs.

If not by Thursday then not at all I would think. Getting too close to 8.2 now might as just well roll it into one.

What?
8.2 will be released around mid March, that means 7-8 weeks... not getting to close. Also the guys working on 8.1.3 probably aren't the same guys who work on 8.2.

I now get the feeling that iOS 8.1.3 is set to be the last update for A5 devices on iOS8 but all devices included, and 8.2 being more geared towards newer tech iWatch (hopefully).
Should there be other MAJOR functional or security issue that arises between 8.1.3 and 8.2 there may even be an 8.1.4 for A5 devices with issues fixed in 8.2

Time will tell, it's all speculation :p

I doubt that since Apple is still selling an A5-powered device (iPad Mini).
Did Apple ever drop device support with a minor x.y-release?

btt: keeping fingers crossed for today! The "4/5-finger-gestures-stop-working-bug" is driving me mad on iPad Air 2

I think iOS 8.1.3 will be released tonight to draw attention away from the Microsoft event AHAHAH

Have you seen what Microsoft has in stock for us? There is absolutely no way that a bug update will take any eyes away from their event.

given that the Microsoft event is already over, you're probably right :p

i didn't watch it live but after the event I read a few news feeds on it and I was impressed. I think Apple finally has some competition in their innovation market.
