iOS 8.1 beta 1 Fixes/Changes/Improvements

Since the current one doesn't seem to be "beta 1" and just "beta" it seems that it's possible there won't even be any more before the actual release.

Agreed. In fact, I think it's a fair assumption that it'll be the only 8.1 beta. Xcode 6.1 has reached GM seed in the Dev Center and its notes reference that it contains the software developer kit for "iOS 8.1 beta" — no beta number.
 
Can anyone that's running 8.1 on the iPad please tell me if it fixes the map kilometre but. In map settings changing from miles to kilometre will not work, it will always go back to miles. It does not happen on the iPhone only on the iPad. It got introduced around ios 7-7.1, and is still not fixed in ios 8.0.x.
Also how is ipad performance, has the safari lag and stutter (keyboard popping up etc) been improved.

I took the plunge and one thing I noticed right off the bat is my safari tab behavior is back to 7.1.2 quality. They aren't deciding to refresh themselves every so often! They remain static like before. Safari still isn't as speedy as 7.1.2 but maybe a little better on 8.1. Hopefully they fix the battery percentage behavior bug. Mine is still jumping around weird on 8.1.

Is this on iPad? Safari is so slow on my iPad 4. I prefer using it, but Mercury at the moment is faster loading pages and doesn't hang.
 
Could someone with 8.1b(x) please put a tv show with artwork and make sure it's marked 'tv show' into their device, doesn't matter what, just as long as it's running 8.1b. Does the artwork display correctly?
 
How is the Battery Usage while not using your phone?

Any by this I mean if you go to settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage, what does it report after sleeping for the night?

8.0.2 uses about 30-60 minutes during an about 8 hour time of not using the phone at all.
 
Does 8.1 beta 1 make the iPad 3 usable again or should I continue to use it as a coaster? :(

Holy smokes batman! I have an ocd ritual too of taking a screenshot of my usage time right before I lock my screen for the night then upon waking up I snap a screenshot as well to see what's been happening. But 30-60 minutes is insane! I did have that happen once with 8.0.2. Some app must have been misbaving. Usually it's 5-24 minutes on an average night normally if a lot of push notifications don't come though. And that's with all apps "opened". If I close all apps and check it's usually 4-10 minutes tops over 8 hrs.

So its not as bad with beta 8.1?

I thought they don't really stop signing betas and it's just that they expire and that's basically it.
