Haha!

8.3 beta 2 and the performance on Spotlight is back to the way it is on 8.1.3.

On beta 1 the keyboard slide up real smooth, a vast improvement on 8.1.3 and now here we are on beta 2 and it's back to how it was.

Ah well.

iPhone 6 plus bug: in messages if you open the keyboard in a conversation then start to swipe out and release to stay in conversation you keyboard and text entry disappears.

iPad Air 2 bug: while scrolling on a page I tend to swipe up or down with my finger then leave it resting where I stop and most of the time the entire page or part of the page disappears until scroll more.

Same here. Brought over from beta 1.

So, my regularly scheduled third-party keyboard status check for anyone on this beta:

- Do third-party keyboards still take appreciably longer to load than the built-in keyboard, especially if you haven't used the keyboard recently?
- Is the "slide" animation still choppy and or non-existent for third-party keyboards?
- does the keyboard still sometimes fail to appear in Spotlight? (I.e., has this happened at all?)
- Do keyboards sporadically fail to load or switch to the default in apps, especially Messages?
- any other weirdness?

I know people on this and the last beta have indicated they felt the third-party keyboard experience had improved, but the only definite, measurable improvement I've seen seems to be that you can now leave reviews in the App Store, so I'd love to hear thoughts.

So, having now installed the beta, I can answer some of my own keyboard questions:

- there is still a very noticeable delay when a third-party keyboard loads, especially if it has not been used recently.
- there is still no slide animation when a keyboard appears. It just pops in, sometimes with a bit of flicker.
- I have not had the keyboard fail to load with Spotlight, but it's too early to say it doesn't happen.
- Messages still does not play nice with third-party keyboards. Often just reverts to the built-in keyboard for a thread, sometimes with the entire globe icon disappearing so you can't even switch back.
- Using third-party keyboards in Safari text boxes often causes the whole Browser to freeze up, requiring you to close it from the task switcher.

So in summary, I have pretty much all the same keyboard problems from 8.1.3, plus a new problem (Safari freezing) that I've never encountered before. If you were upgrading hoping for improved keyboard stability, keep waiting.

Fixed issues with Movies connecting to iTunes server using Home Sharing

They seem to have finally fixed the issue with Movies where it used to hang when connecting to an iTunes server using home sharing.

Since beta 2 they now seem to load reasonable smoothly.

Anyone else notice this?

I haven't tested this myself but I'm finding there are numerous fixes here and there for common issues that I can no longer reproduce - certainly too many to document on the first page.

An example: Text selection (and auto-correct) appear considerably improved on this forum when posting via iOS 8.3 beta 2.

Is the keyboard tap indicator when Reduce Transparency is enabled (iPad mini 2 / Air / Air 2)) fixed in this beta?

Thanks a lot, it looks much better.
You still have to scroll down for the mirroring button? Can't remember if it used to be like this.

Mirroring option appears once Apple TV has been selected and, get this, the menu box actually resizes to show it without need to scroll!

That's nice. I also read they FINALLY fixed the folder corner glitch/clipping. It really seems they are addressing the small UI issues at last. I like :D

Just a question before installing as I've experienced problems with past beta's:
Anybody seeing any cellular service related issues with this build? Example: Phone calls not going through, cellular connection randomly dropping out, etc.? And I know about the VoLTE not working on Verizon. I'm on T-Mobile.

I've had zero detectable cellular connectivity issues with iOS 8.3 beta 2 on an iPhone 5S.

Also, I've had several reports from friends that when talking to me over bluetooth (in my car) that the connection is clearer and has little to no background noise which existed in the past.

Awesome! Thanks! Going to install it now.

Not sure if this is in 8.2 beta. I noticed my pebble shows up under settings-> about when connected. It has a page with manufacturer, model #, serial #, hardware and software versions, and a (currently dead)find app for accessory button.

So third party keyboards not only stopped working in Safari but they also crash it and once rebooted, not respringed, my phone. Iphone 6+

And by not work, i mean the keyboard is there but once you hit space whatever you're typing doesn't appear. And backspacing stops working as well. And if I force quit, Safari won't open for at least 10 seconds. This keyboard api is pathetic. It's shocking it was included in the final release. Kind of shocking they've been working on it for at least a year and it's still broken.
