Since the same devices will support iOS 9 as those that support iOS 8, what would be the rationale for something like that?Going back over a month, I had a feeling that Apple would delay this update all the way up to the time iOS 9 comes out. This feeling seems to be playing itself out.
I sure as hell hope they are taking the time on fixing the bugs like slow wake on iPad Air 2 and music app lagging the entire iPad when exiting the app after 15-20 minutes of use.Since the same devices will support iOS 9 as those that support iOS 8, what would be the rationale for something like that?
I've mentioned this before, but remember that OS X security patches need to be released concurrently with iOS updates. This can affect the pace of either update being released.Going back over a month, I had a feeling that Apple would delay this update all the way up to the time iOS 9 comes out. Sure, they should be fixing issues. The point is if they are releasing iOS 9 that the same devices would get update for, what would be the reasoning to release iOS 8.4.1 right around the same time?I sure as hell hope they are taking the time on fixing the bugs like slow wake on iPad Air 2 and music app lagging the entire iPad when exiting the app after 15-20 minutes of use.
Even though Apple has a very high adoption rate of OS updates there will be millions of users still on iOS 8 for many months after iOS 9 drops. There are still plenty of people on iOS 7.Sure, they should be fixing issues. A fairly small percentage and most are likely those with devices that can't even upgrade to anything beyond iOS 7 (like the iPhone 4).Even though Apple has a very high adoption rate of OS updates there will be millions of users still on iOS 8 for many months after iOS 9 drops. Good point. But it's going to happen and be released no matter what. I'm really betting on sometime this month.A fairly small percentage and most are likely those with devices that can't even upgrade to anything beyond iOS 7 (like the iPhone 4).
What I'm saying is that lets say they release iOS 8.4.1 a week before iOS 9, as soon as iOS 9 is released anyone getting a notification to update or checks for an update would simply get the iOS 9 update, which really devalues having the iOS 8.4.1 update out there for a week or so as many don't even find out about an update for a few days if not more, which means that many won't ever really even get a chance to install iOS 8.4.1 making it fairly irrelevant.
Tomorrow! Most iOS releases of late seem to have come alongside an OS X update. With 10.10.5 in testing and last weeks build coming with attached release notes (usually signalling imminent release), 8.4.1 and 10.10.5 probably won't be too far away.
OTA seems to follow the release by up to an hour at times.it's out!
iOS 8.4.1 (12H321)

Higher than ever , unfortunately. They have so much money yet any one of us who know what these bugs are could be hired to just be the average user. Engineers don't know how to test things the way people use them. iOS 8 is proof of soooo many rough edges. Honestly iOS 7 was much smoother even with such a giant design change. I'll be curious to hear the real stories of post Steve jobs Apple that the ex employees will tell us.None of the issues with the iPad Air 2 have been fixed. All the bugs still there. I will be curious to see Apple's stock price in 6 months from now.![]()
