So at least for me, the Music app is completely unusable in Carplay under 8.4. Anytime I try to launch it, it crashes instantly. Tried a few dozen times, and it never opens whatsoever.

Since my last post, I have had this issue on occasion. A simple workaround is to start playing music either on the phone, or by getting Siri to (E.G. "Play all songs, shuffled") BEFORE interacting with the music app on CarPlay.

Once the music is playing, the CarPlay controls are usable without crashing the app (and sometimes respringing the phone).

If this doesn't work for you: Disconnect from CarPlay, open the Music app on the phone, play a song and then plug into CarPlay.

Music app is pretty damn stable on my iPhone 6. I've ran into 3 issues so far though.

1. Music app crashes when deleting music.

2. Music will skip to the next song even if current song is not finished.. doesn't happen too often though.

3. Even if a song is downloaded (not just in the cloud), still shows that it is not. This is the case for virtually my entire library. Only a handful of songs show that they're actually downloaded. Mind you, every song is downloaded to my device.

On my 6 Plus, there is a problem where the song would quit playing if the Music app is not in foreground mode. Quitting the app completely and then starting again seems to solve the problem always though!

The same inconveniences on my iPhone 6 Plus but other than that quite stable

Do in-app purchases work for anyone? I just tried to buy some gems on CoC and it said it cannot connect to the iTunes Store.

As others reported, it ends my songs prematurely all the time, and I can't find out how to shuffle songs in a playlist. Is it possible to downgrade back to 8.3? Would downloading the IPW file, and check for update, restore work?

same here. for some reason I can't purchase any in-app purchases. have tried several apps, hard reset, logging in and out of itunes store, updating payment information; nothing has worked.

Hm, OK, at least I know it's not just me. Hopefully this is fixed in beta 2.

I added it to the OP :)

They seem to have scrapped song lyrics altogether in this build.

As the guy above me said, it's a known issue.

Since I'm a developer and I know it takes no more than 10 minutes to implement a tap button where the lyrics would appear... Are they working on something bigger regarding the lyrics ? This is my prediction, and we'll see it in an upcoming build or at WWDC.

Some apps like Shazam have lyrics that scroll automatically.
And some other apps like Genius have lyrics explanations when you type on each verse, which is very cool.

The latter is subjective and probably won't happen (but damn it would be cool), but the former definitely should. And you should be able to download the lyrics from the iTunes Store automatically.

So far, after two weeks of testing with iOS 8.4, the new Music app has a couple of things better, a few things worse. But overall, my opinion about the Music app won't change : it's a total waste of space. And this is my main issue with it.

Like the new music app except for a few things:

The status bar on the Now Playing screen really distracts from the album artwork.

The artist view still needs the same iOS 1-6 album layout.

The mini-player should show an album artwork thumbnail.

A worthy replacement for Cover Flow in the landscape mode would be greatly welcomed.

Are Audiobooks very very slow to load in iBooks for everyone else?

The artwork is low res when the audiobook is playing back also.

Those are the issues I have to deal with in maintaining a well-organized music library, and finding a decent music app that will not leave me in a rage.

Here's the main point: Apple's music app, has and always will, cater(ed) to the masses. It's meant for people with a nice amount of music in their libraries, but not an artist having 183 albums. That is a very specific use case and Apple are not going to overcomplicate a music app with features (such as sorting by specific conductor or other metadata), because the majority of their users don't listen to classical music.

What you need is a good third-party music app, not Apple's implementation that has young, generally teenage users in mind that love simplified things and don't know the difference between 128 kbps MP3 and FLAC, or classical and as most call it, "boring music". There are many good out there.

I cannot sync any new audiobooks from iTunes to my iPhone. Guessing because they have moved and iTunes has not been updated to accommodate this.

You cannot use stable and crashing in the same sentence. :p

Mine stopped working about 4 days ago. No matter what I do, hard reset iPhone, copy new music to it, kill the app and relaunch, it always crashes half a second after launching.

I had that happen to me, lasted for two days and was really frustrating. Once I opened up the iTunes store and checked my downloads though, I saw there were some "stuck" downloads for some songs I wanted to download to my phone. Once I canceled those downloads & forced quit the Music app, it has been working great ever since.

This has been happening to me also. I thought it was Runkeeper doing it but it seems it's happening to others as well. Downloading Beta 2 right now, hopefully it's fixed!
