What kind of artist is that with 183 albums? Is that even possible to make that many?

Classical composer (Shostakovich) and for prolific composers, and looking for multiple performances of some works, yes, 183 could be considered a small subset.

ETA: Also, for classical works, I edit the metadata (lots) so that individual works are classified as albums, rather than a complete CD or multiple CDs. 3 string quartets on one CD equals 3 albums. And that's how I want them played back. Also, a single CD may contain works by more than one composer, with different performers.

Also, with around 16,000 tracks in my music library, including many classical works with non-unique titles such as "Symphony No. 3", being able to FIND things is crucial. A search box alone is totally inadequate. The available metadata fields, especially as subsetted by iTunes and the music app, is insufficient for describing a work by composer, conductor, ensemble, and possibly multiple soloists. The Grace Notes database is also terribly inconsistent, and often has everything jammed into the track titles.

Those are the issues I have to deal with in maintaining a well-organized music library, and finding a decent music app that will not leave me in a rage.

Known Issues

----

- It’s not possible to add an entire album or artist to a playlist at once.

----

I can't seem to be able to add any song to an existing playlist or to a new playlist on my 6 Plus. I've had to edit/create the playlist on my Mac and wait for it to sync across via iTunes match.

Is the music app laggy on iphone 5s? I just love the new features and I want to install it on my primary device.

iOS Beta 8.4 as well as all others needs to be placed in the public beta as it will serve as a huge advantage for Apple iOS will become more secure and bug free allowing Apple to focus on additional features (iOS 9) and stability.

Been running iOS 8.4 b1 for the past 4 hours and have been playing with the Music.app while it's running in the background over Airplay (Airport Express). No crashes and freezes yet. The entire OS is pretty polished from what I'm seeing. Remains to be seen about the battery life.

It might be released to the public, but not the first developer beta. Maybe after a few more and once the known issues list is smaller.

Does it crash when you try and open a "custom" iTunes Radio station? My iPad Air 2 crashes every single time I try to open a "custom" station.

I have a bug where you can't change volume using the EarPod buttons. The lock screen at that point will also refuse to change music volume, but after disconnecting the earphones, the volume slider in the lock screen works again.

Anybody confirm before I add it to OP?

Can anyone post screenshots of Genre view in the new Music app? I've heard rumors that they've eliminated Artist view in the Genre view and now have it structured the way it is in iTunes.

Thanks!

Thanks. But when you tap on a genre, does the Artist view still appear, or does it just go to a list of albums, like in iTunes?

.

Kinda sucks to be honest. I prefer that it shows artists. But then again I never use Genre view so whatever.

That is unfortunate. By the way, I think I heard you say that you have iTunes Match. Since no one answered my question from page 1, I was wondering if you could (or anyone else) verify the following:

1. Since one of the iOS 8 releases, it's been impossible to change the year of an album in iTunes and have it sync over to the Music app. Has this been fixed?

2. The "sort album" tags also have not worked in the Music app since iOS 7.1, preventing users from sorting their albums in any order that they want. Has this also been fixed?

I have Radars filed on both (I'm not in the developer program, just have the free account), so it would be great if these headaches were finally fixed.

Thanks!

1. Yep, the year synced within 5 seconds on my phone.
2. I'm not entirely sure. It synced a change I made and then didn't anymore. Might be the internet being bad here though (University internet sucks)

Should be when developer beta 3 when public beta 1 is released as apple have been doing previously

iOS 8.4 Beta 1: Changes and Bug Fixes

Didn't appear to be present for Touch ID devices in 8.3 but it appears that in 8.4, iTunes will store your password for Free Downloads. At least, that's what I was prompted after a reset when trying to download a free app. I input my password and iTunes offered to store my password for Free App downloads.

Mine doesn't crash but is just not playing any of my custom stations.

I am however able to add new Playlists and edit them IF when I create them I go ahead and add a song right away rather than leave it blank.
