Evening all,

I think we will see the next beta of iOS 8.4 drop today, possibly even the Golden Master, as WWDC is only a week away.

Thoughts?

Nah, Apple aren't gonna unveil their "top secret streaming service overhaul" in a GM release before a major event.

Both 8.4 GM and 9.0b1 will be available immediately following the keynote.
Unless they hold off the streaming service for 9.. which I bet they are.

I don't think they are holding off for IOS 9 otherwise they would not have redesigned the music app until IOS9.

I also don't think that GM will launch until WWDC or later... Beta 4 could come out this week... Could.

I don't know, just seems weird that they would introduce it in 8.4. Especially when they haven't tested it at all in the 8.4 betas.

What makes you think that 8.4 will be released on the same day as the WWDC keynote?

If they need to add stuff related to the streaming music service they could easily run more beta cycles including The additional features that they don't want anyone to see yet.

Alternatively the service could be all back end... Paying for the service may just allow you access to download vast amounts of stuff from the iTunes Store... So there may not be anything to add to the music app.

I would expect to see the first iOS 9 beta after the keynote which will settle the "when is it coming" either way. Personally I don't care, I won't switch to it anyway, I'm more looking for Swift 2.0!

I would as well. But just because ios9 goes into beta does not mean that 8.4 is done with beta. 8.2 and 8.3 were in beta at the same time.

Given the various legal mumbo jumbo being thrown around in the press speculating issues with getting the music service signed, I would imagine we'll see it announced at WWDC then launched with iOS 9 & 8.4 coming as the final update for iOS 8.

I sort of expected something by now with at least some minor updates to the beta. I did not or do not expect the final this close to an event. All a guess anyhow.

I never said I thought that, I have no clue when 8.4 is coming out. I honestly thought we would see GM today, now I have no clue.

This is how it will be:
iOS 8.4 will be released at WWDC for the public (without the new music service). Then when iOS 9 launches in September there will be the new music service.
For OSX almost the same 10.10.4 released at WWDC but with nothing new. Than 10.11? will be introduced at WWDC and released at the keynote alongside .....

No.. Apple will not let the final details out before WWDC... So no GM is likely.

If the beats service is backend... Then 8.4 could drop next Monday... If there is more to the music app that they haven't shown yet then there will be more beta cycles. But at least they have gotten a head start on working out the bugs in most of the music app... So it will minimize any extended beta testing.

They are not holding off until ios9.... Or they would have just waited until then to release the new music app.

Without the music service there is absolutely no reason for Apple to even release 8.4... 9 is not going to have a lot of new feature as is... They would not give one of them away early with out good reason... The music service is coming with 8.4.... Or 8.4 is scrapped.... Which I don't think they would do during the beta stage.

Why not release iOS9 now and consign this unfixable mess of code to the trashcan.

Apple has too many things to wrap up. This is definitely not a right time to release a final version of 8.4. At least, Arabic issue must be fixed before releasing. I am sure some users will test that strange string once more as soon as the final version has been released.
I don't know what apple will do on landscape mode on iPhone, I mean, the music app.
There are still visual bugs in settings app.
Issues addressed in release notes have not been solved yet.
Many many more.
