I always said that since iOS 8.4 dropped as a beta that it would be completely possible it would never hit the update block. I honestly think 8.4 was just a test of the new interface to not only see how people liked it but if it was stable enough. It will show up in iOS 9, but I don't think they will bring this whole new interface to iOS 8 especially if all devices that can run iOS 8 will run iOS 9.
no way. they considered it for iOS 9, but losing just those few months between this month and fall (aka September) is time that they can't really afford to lose. Also i think they probably feel like it's time...it's been over a year since the Beats acquisition, it would only hurt them by delaying.

On a bigger point, there is going to be enough bugs and instability that naturally come with a full number release that they are going to need to fix...not even taking into account that this year is going to be focused on overall stability. So add getting a new Music app design + streaming service off the ground to the pile of work for iOS 9 just doesn't make any sense when they can avoid it.

Exactly. Thats why they would have iOS 8.4 in beta to help weed out the issues. Although, taking a step back and looking at it, if this was the case we probably would have seen another build either last week or this week. I don't think 8.4 is ready for prime time, and I don't think it'll be publicly released at WWDC. Maybe shortly thereafter however, but its gonna be at least 2-3 weeks after the keynote.

If the new streaming service really goes online next week, 8.4 will drop on monday. Internal builds will already be a lot further along, especially since we did not get a newer build for weeks.

announced on monday, service launches end of the month.

"Apple had originally planned to release iOS 8.4 following the WWDC Keynote on June 8th, but the company now plans to actually release the service during the last week of June."

That's a lot different than you saying they should just push it to be in iOS 9...also as said above, we haven't had a new build in weeks

also, they are going to drop support for some devices, not all iOS 8 devices will run iOS 9. There has never been a year in recent memory where they didn't drop old devices...at least some. Another reason to get it out in 8.4, not putting it into 9

You are correct. I was playing Devil's advocate of sorts. The truth is we have no idea what Apple is going to do and probably won't until at least WWDC.

From the most recent reports iOS 9 will support A5 devices, and considering all A5 devices have the same SoC (except the iPad 3) they will either all have to be supported or none will be supported. Otherwise, Apple will get massive flack if the iPad mini 1st Gen is able to run iOS 8 but the iPhone 4s and iPad 2 won't.

But they also could release 8.4 next week and later 8.4.1 to enable streaming. Because at the moment, they are forced to release an update asap because of arabic text major issue.

Nah, Apple aren't gonna unveil their "top secret streaming service overhaul" in a GM release before a major event.

Both 8.4 GM and 9.0b1 will be available immediately following the keynote.

Or it could be 8.4b4 and 9.0b1 that drop after they keynote.

That makes zero sense. You know how they will test iOS9??? WITH iOS 9 BETA! If they wanted the test the interface for it they would have it in iOS 9 betas for the next three months. With the new streaming service coming it only makes sense if you've been reading the news.

I think it makes complete sense. Other people have agreed with me that iOS 8.4 might not make it out of the beta stage. Why would they introduce this whole new redesigned app on a soon to be onsolete OS? There is only 3 months to go until it is released so why not bill it as a new feature for iOS 9?

Oh and yes, I have been reading the news. Everyone is still entitled to their own opinion however and this is mine.

Because they want to get their music streaming service off the ground ASAP and redesigning the music app for that makes perfect sense. They would not go through adding features to the music app in every 8.4 beta if they didn't intend on releasing it soon. They would have saved it for the iOS 9 betas. Plus it also makes no sense for Apple to put a new music app in the 8.4 beta when its intended for an iOS 9 release therefore removing any wow factor. Are you forgetting 8.4 is in PUBLIC beta? Trust me it will be part of 8.4

And if 8.4 doesn't drop, which I totally expect it will btw on Monday, then there will at the very least be a 8.3.1 to fix the iMessage/Unicode bug. The fact there hasn't been a 8.3.1 release so far leads me to believe that 8.4 will definitely drop on Monday

I agree. They usually quit doing betas when they are adding some surprise feature (new music service) in this case.

Apple have already said they'll be releasing an update soon, which means for iOS 8 as September is still months away.

The messaging bug would probably have been fixed by now if they wanted it to be, so I think they've added the fix to 8.4 which will be released shortly.
