HAH! Who wants to place bets that iOS 9, which has been available for almost four hours, already has more market share than Lolipop? Meanwhile the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 just got an update. The iPad 2 came out 1650 days ago.

I thought you were about to say that the Ipad came out in 1650... That would be some after sale support... ;-)

Wow, Android is a joke in comparison. Want the latest OS? Buy a new phone.

That is one annoying thing about Android. If the phone is not five minutes old it will never see an update.

That moment when you see a 40 year old lady running < iOS 6. Makes me cringe. I just want to steal their phone for an hour and update and organize it...

That and seeing people that cannot maintain their computers, never back up, never organize. These things are computing 101. I`m not thinking anything complex, I just don`t see why so many people talk of losing data, can not find files etc... because they cannot maintain anything. Does not take that long to learn a few basics.

Hyperbole much? I could say a similar thing: That is one annoying thing about iOS. If the phone is not five minutes old a software update turns it into a snail.

I`m on Android, they just say an update is coming for months depending on the phone, I know it can depend which version it is and how much it was changed. I went a little over the top with my comment on purpose. I quite like Android.

Yeah, that is also true for an iPhone. I had an update really slow down my device.

For the first time ever, I didn't actually download iOS8 within the first weeks of release. In fact, I've stayed on iOS7 and just pre-ordered the 6s so will be jumping straight to iOS9. I think what put me off was the negativity surrounding the space it takes up but also changes to the photos app. :/

Most of the core OS apps and features are now independant and get uodates regularly on the play store.. The proper updates are not quite as vital as they used to be..

I have not developed an Android app yet but from what I am given to understand, from a developer's point of view, Android is pretty good cause their core API is in a system level app called Google Play Services. This part of Android is not open source. 93% of ALL Android devices have the latest version of Google Play Services...indicating that Android developers have a consistent API to develop against. The Play Services app is updated by Google every 6 weeks....

Good for her. I hope she holds onto it for as long as possible. iOS 6 was the last version where the design didn't suck. This whole mentality of 'if it's newer it must be better' really rubs me the wrong way on this forum.

Sent from my iOS 6.

I mean this is a perfect example of how apple upgrades screw everything up. Why should your choice of iOS version matter with your choice of OS X version? It doesn't matter what version of android or windows you have, they'll all happily talk with each other. Apple is one company and their version differences cause such trouble with their own products.

Much as I agree with you, I should point out that it's not just Apple. Microsoft Office 2003 cannot read .docx files from Office 2007 or later. This functionality was later patched in, but it frequently breaks the document formatting (something that almost lost me a job once).
