Heat Issues

Is anyone else's iPhone 5 getting extremely hot during usage. The phone got hot while using the app store in Beta 1, but now it just seems to get hot regardless. It eventually went away in Beta one, so I'll see here, but is anyone else having this problem?

When I pulled down Notification Center all the way on the bottom it said "1 new widget available" but I couldn't press it.

When I exited and pulled it back it went away and now it's gone. Seems like this is how we will know what widgets will be available.

Could you please elaborate what exactly makes it so much better compared to the Podcast.app?

Seriously, I'm very curious as I'm listening to Podcasts daily and I have tried A LOT of various offerings, both paid and free on all three platforms (Android, iOS and Windows Phone) and I have yet to find anything remotely close to be as reliable and useful as the Apple Podcast.app.

Actually, my man, I should probably try out the latest version of Podcasts to see how far it's come. When it first debuted, it was quite buggy and lacked features that I'd gotten used to in Instacast. I was so turned off by it that I never went back.

In the EU the test isn't "monopoly market power", it's "ability to significantly affect pricing".

Which has been successful in cases with market share in the low 40%s. Apple do need to actually be careful.

Except that Microsoft can set the price of its own OS without affecting the pricing of competing operating systems. That EU standard you mention applies in cases where changing the price of a product by one company affects the pricing of similar products by all other companies in that market space.

My 5S was doing the same thing.

lol

I like the "battery by usage" just a sum of percentages ..

Why would u need a home screen one for or even Settings..

I thought the battery usage was for "apps" as in developer apps only or Apple apps, not the Home screen with is not even an app... You may want to argue Settings, but still why would this use more than 15% ? its just text and few icons..

Need more work...

Apart from that looks something straight out of a 1980's movie ... hehe
So you can tell where the battery usage took place. So while you were looking at the home screen during many different times throughout the day that much battery was used up. Etc.

Am I the only who is happy with the inclusion of Podcast as iOS main apps? I always think Podcast is so underrated as I could find so many 'treasures' inside. It has so many people's hard works and excellent contents but so little people use them.

As a podcaster I am very happy with this inclusion. Even though I use Pocketcasts myself.

I wish the purchased apps were still listed alphabetically. I can't remember which apps I bought when, but I can remember what they are called (and therefore how they are spelled). Sorting by purchase date seems silly.
Having an option to choose the way you'd like them sorted for you would be the best. Shouldn't be a hard thing to implement as well, since it has been both ways already.

I'm split

I agree with your appreciation of the Podcast app. It's my favorite, even as far back as it's reel to reel theme. However, I think it's unnecessary for Apple to make it mandatory. I did an anecdotal poll of about 20 people and none of them listened to podcasts. It's a great platform, but not that many people use it. Maybe Apple hopes to change that?

...Such as using market power as an OS vendor to bundle podcast software when other players in the market are selling it on uneven terms for more money?

See my comment a few comments up, I got it working.

Why on earth would you think a feature removed with 7.1, and now reintroduced in iOS8 beta 2 would magically start working in 7.1.1?

You do know what thread you are in, right?

Jeeesus christ !!! In my immense frustration from lack of this feature in 7.1,
I somehow convinced myself that he was talking about how he got it to work somehow in 7.1 or 7.1.1.
(that despite the fact it's a ios8 beta2 forum, which I am aware of)

1000 apologies!

Unbelievable. This is the final straw. I'm switching to Android. I can't understand why Apple feels it needs to force such a stupid app on to everyone. Podcasts is such an integral experience to iOS that it needs to be a stock app? Really? Who listens to podcasts? Nobody cares. Just like Health, Newsstand, Stocks, Compass, Phone, iMessage, Maps, Passbook, Reminders, FaceTime, Safari, iBooks. No. One. Cares, Cupertino. Just amazes me why they can't put in actual useful features.

Pretty sure this must be sarcasm, but haven't (yet) read the whole thread to be sure.

You may not enjoy podcasts, but millions, literally millions, do.

Phone? iMessage? Reminders? Safari? These are core apps.

I'm not sure what you use your device for, but if you don't use the phone and you choose alternatives to iMessage, Reminders, Safari and everything else then it sounds like you're not overly invested in the Apple ecosystem.

In which case you may well be better served looking at an alternative. Give Android a go. Maybe even try Windows Phone - some of those devices are really nice these days.

Hopefully you find a platform which suits the way you want to work.

Really?

Really? 6 out of 13 of the apps/features you listed I use on a near DAILY basis. And 8 of the 13 generally get used at least at least once a week. Pretty normal?
