I would say if you can live with some reboots or app issues its ok to use it as daily driver

I have had no issues with continuity ... Taking calls on my iPad for 24 hours now

Battery life for me has been phenomenal for a beta at least

Of course I set it up as new and all my apps as well

beta 4 has crippled a lot of my apps. I think beta 3 was a better build as a daily driver.

I totally get the same feeling. The Music App hasn't changed a bit in iOS 8 if we compare it to iOS 7, and yet it presents so many bugs and crashes. Even as a developer, I don't understand this.

Music player has changed, I dont remember seeing genius playlists before...

I'm not gonna attempt iOS 8 on my iPhone 4S. Usually running the next iOS on the oldest device compatible is slow and laggy. Maybe this time around it'll be different, but my iPhone isn't my main phone, so there's no point.

iOS 8b4 runs pretty good on my iPad Air so far though.

If you can deal with a few bugs and some apps that don't work, then "yes", go ahead and use it. If you want to avoid some quirky stuff and frequent re-springs/reboots, then stick with 7.1.2. Personally, I'd rather jailbreak 7.1.2 than use the beta software.

Hey let me know how yours runs. I'm on it now. It's not too bad.

So after a few more hours of testing, here's my verdict : If you want to lose the ability to receive calls, then yes, install it as your daily driver no problem.

I've been running iOS 8 betas as my daily driver since June 3 out of necessity and haven't experienced any critical issues (but definitely quite a few annoyances).

Regardless, apart from the issue with interactive notifications being unable to switch to the number/punctuation keyboard in beta 4, I feel it's a lot more stable than the previous betas, and I've noticed huge improvements with battery life on Wi-Fi.

I'll echo the "if you're willing to lose a few apps, go for it" sentiment.

I've been receiving calls (well, the few I receive in the first place) without issue.

Too many broken apps, Safari is terrible, lost iCloud data like Keychain, and an awful battery life then go ahead.

Is the phone app fixed? I was unable to make or receive phone calls on the first try in dp3. Pretty bloody annoying.

I, once again, had to go back to 7.1.2. Every beta release I get that hope that "this is the one that I can finally use to test my apps". Every time I load up the latest beta on my 5c, the bugs start as soon as it asks you for your passcode. The number pad will not minimize down so I can push "get started" to go to the home screen.

Once I reboot, I can get to the home screen, but the problems just escalate from there. My 2012 MBA with 10.10 says "cannot connect" when trying out continuity. No matter who I'm looking at in the contacts, it keeps the same picture. I still have to re-enter my iCloud user/pass every time I reboot the phone. It still has trouble holding my preference for "every 4 hours" passcode entry instead of immediately. Unable to place facetime audio calls about 25% of the time. About 50% of the time, I can't hang up a call... as in the red button at the bottom simply doesn't respond. I have to awkwardly ask the other person to hang up first. I have, at least, 50 or more purchases on my iCloud account, but the app store tells me "no purchases" under my account (they are there in iOS7). All issues have been reported to Apple using the bug reporter and flagged as duplicate.

Thus, I'm finished with the iOS8 betas from here on and will wait for GM.

Sorry for the very noob question here, but how do I download betas? Do I have to register for the $100 or is there a different way?

That is the official way of doing it. There are other ways, of course that cannot be discussed here, but a quick google search will point you in the right direction. Just know if you buy a slot under someones account, you are technically breaking the terms of service.

Just wondering did you install on an IPhone? Do you have a developer account or used another way to get the beta? I ask because I have very few issues with B4.

do you think i am lying? the apps that i use everyday are mostly broken now. i also lost the ability to add a new contact and predictive text covers the send button on my quick reply. I didn't have any of these problems in beta 3.

I agree. B3 was crashing my phone and getting blue screen and just wreaking havoc. B4 is really stable now and having very few issues. Yes, some apps aren't working correctly but that is what a beta is for.

I installed on a 5S with a clean install. For me Safari hangs loading websites. Not always but about 2/3rds of the time. Have to hit the X to stop then reload. I was unable to get my Keychain data and now cannot get it going back to 7.1.2. Had to start over there and lost over 50 passwords. Messaging app has bugs with UI. Battery life is around 7hrs. Used to 9-11hrs on 7.1.2. App crashes or UI glitches on about half my apps I use daily.

The other poster was correct with the number pad not going away when it should. Both in the initial setup and for things like the Keychain pass code which I tried probably 20 times to get to work. There's a lot of little UI bugs like that still present.

I am not a developer but am always excited to test new features. I have been using iPhones since the 3G and hope the 8.0 launch version is much better than 7.0 was. Even still I don't think a lot of the main features are ready to go that iOS 8 brings so there's really not much to gain for non dev's, and with the bugs still present 7.1.2 is a much better daily driver. Once the features like Continuity and such are working, and apps get updated, then iOS 8 will be a daily driver. As I said I just like to see how the development is going with my own eyes and I can go back to 7 pretty easy. Since this is a discussion about daily driver usage it's relevant to bring up the issues. Obviously betas will have bugs and I'm acutely aware of that. Not bashing Apple for anything just yet. However, I didn't feel 7 was stable until 7.1, and hope 8 is better in that regard.
