Another addition to control center is that when it comes up it darkens the background and then when you change the brightness settings the background goes back to normal to show the change and then is darkened again when the brightness control is released... I nkow that makes a ton of sense... to try open CC, change brightness.

The Tips app could really change the way the average person uses their iOS device. It's easy for those of us that frequent this site to forget that most people don't put in the time to learn the ins and outs of their phone or tablet; having all these features explained in one place is amazing. Heck, I might learn something new.

Sure, but the fact that you can never remove it is stupid. Eventually, and within a reasonably short time, any user will seldom if ever access it again. Then it's just so much crap taking up space.

There you go!
Thanks so much!

What about the fact that the picture has an image of Preview for iOS?
More than likely they were just ideas being tested out in their early stages. The decision wasn't made to include them, so icons weren't designed for them (hence why Mac icons were used).

I don't think anything on Mark Gurman, what makes you think I think anything about him. We have different opinions. There is probably someone who agrees with me, and someone who agrees with you. I admit that its slightly weird that the icon is similar, but he could have been told exact details about the icon. Anyway, whatever.
That was a comment targeted at anyone else reading this who thinks Gurman was being arrogant etc.
I have no idea what your views are :D

Podcast app by itself is 13.8MB, so assuming that most, if not all, are around that size, that's 100MB+ for stock apps.

If you took the 10 most useless stock apps (Notes, iBooks, Compass, Game Center, Newsstand, Stocks, Voice Memos, Weather, Podcasts and Tips) and allowed the user to delete them, they could spend a minimum of $9.90 on apps of their choosing. For a billion iPhone users, that would calculate to an extra $9.9 billion in revenue.

Obviously that's a very simplified way of looking at it, but my point remains, there's a lot of lost revenue to be made. I won't spend money on apps that I can't install because the OS is so full of iCrap that I have to delete apps I actually want in order to download new apps.

Wow... Really...? All 1 billion Phone users need that space and all will buy paid apps...? That's a humungous assumption... Not to mention extremely stupid one...

I have a close to 30GB free on my 64GB iPhone after loading all my music movies (even thrones I know I will never watch on my phone). apps etc. In my family the other 2 iPhones are 32 Gb ones and both have at least 5-7 GB free... None of the iPhone owners in my friends circle or my professional circle have an iPhone which is filled to the brim...

So in reality I would guess worldwide there wouldn't be more than 50.000 people (an extremely generous figure) in the same boat as you, and I would say roughly about 10,000 would actually buy all paid apps... so even if you average it at $4 per person that is a measly $200,000...

Was there in Beta 3... :)

Stalkery?! What on earth have you got set for people's profile pics?!

its not really an issue besides looking like crap for me but lets say you keep getting calls from a female coworker or whatnot and your wife is using your phone she might get suspicious for all those women showing up as your fave callers

Don't have a chance to get a screenshot up, but if you look under battery usage, they created an icon for Home & Lock Screen, before it was just a blank icon.

I just hope the two big bugs I've run into are addressed in b4. One being a lock screen glitch where it stays dark and doesn't respond, then responds with all the button presses at once some 10+ seconds later. The other involves the music app and skipping forward with the inline controller on the headphones making the music app completely unresponsive. So far so good though.

Also I just noticed, it tells you which app is having a low signal battery drain. I don't recall that before.

I'd like to see this. Could someone upload a full-res .png screenshot for me?

Ok thanks. You actually changed my mind! :D I agree with you know.

He was being arrogant suggesting Apple redesigned their health app (and made it worse, according to his anonymous sources) because of what he leaked on 9to5Mac. He wants us to believe Apple would spend time redesigning an app that got no more than 3 minutes stage time at WWDC just to spite him, just because he leaked a screen shot. I'm glad Gruber called him out on it.

2) Full screen call pictures are back. Go into the Info for the contact, and re-select the photo you would like to use. Next time you get a call from that contact, it should be full screen.

You, sir, are my new hero. I kept waiting for this feature to kick back in!

Here you go (sorry for the language; it's Dutch but Home & Lockscreen can be found as 'Begin-/toegangsscherm'):

EDIT: Ah right, somebody already took this one for me. :p

It was too simple, and didn't add any lines of code to just leave the brightness alone in the first place. Maybe they pay their programmers by the number of lines of code written. That could explain a lot.

Not sure why it matters - maybe they didn't change it because he leaked it, maybe they changed it because they didn't like the design and were going to change it anyways. Either way, give the guy some credit. He's obviously well connected and did get some good info from his sources. He may be a little arrogant, but hey, he does a good job.

I think it was/is unfortunate when he goes down this route. It comes across as really petty. But hey he's only 20 years old so still has some growing up to do.

In iOS8 beta 3, every time I would do a search in the App Store, it would crash. Did anyone else experience this and is it fixed now in beta 4?

I never use orientation lock, airplane mode (don't fly that much) or that "moon mode" that I am still yet to understand. I do though go to settings > Cellular > Cellular data all the time, 'cause it's the simpliest way to manage the internet traffic.

You call it simple, I call it aggravating. That 'moon' mode is Do Not Disturb. I use it quite often when I don't wish to be 'disturbed' by anyone other than my Favorites. Airplane mode will do basically the same thing, but then you won't get anything from anyone, like a text from the spouse to pick up milk
