How annoying... iPhone 6+ 8.0.2 with 2014 BMW 535xi, all I get is address book/last called... all calls just don't work.

I'm seriously fed up... I never expect a company to get everything right, but why mess with a core function like bluetooth and why take so long to bring it back to it's old states. As quickly as they fixed 8.0.1 they should have fixed this by now.

I'm in my car all day for work and this is unsafe

Go with my fix in the interim. Although it seems like it, they haven't actually broken the core fundamentals of Bluetooth, the issue is they are leveraging this to make one of their new technologies work - Handoff. If you disable Handoff across all your iCloud devices then Bluetooth continues to function as it should.
This will also explain why a fix is not happening overnight - they will want to ensure they still have Handoff working since it is one of their new features.

Thank you, too many posts here to read them all. So I just disable handoff ? as simple as that ?

Kind of, as long as you don't need to use Handoff at this time, do the following. If you don't want to do the 'reset all settings' step (4), you can try disabling Handoff at this point on the phone and then turning of iCloud and then turning it back on before checking if the Bluetooth devices are now gone:

The steps are:
  1. Check on your iPhone under Bluetooth devices for any iOS devices running iOS 8 or Macs running Yosemite. These devices will be listed automatically and if you select the ! icon, the option to ' Forget this device' will be greyed out. Take a note of these devices.
  2. Unpair your Bluetooth connection from your car.
  3. Go to each of the devices in turn from the first step and turn off Handoff. iOS - Settings \ General \ Handoff & Suggested Apps \ Handoff. Mac - Settings \ General \ 'Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices".
  4. Now select 'Reset All Settings' on your iPhone under Settings \ General \ Reset.
  5. After the iPhone restarts, turn off 'Handoff' on your iPhone - Settings \ General \ Handoff & Suggested Apps \ Handoff
  6. Now, turn Bluetooth back on. The devices from step 1 should no longer be showing.
  7. Pair your iPhone with your car. All should be working fine now.

The above will continue to work provided you leave the 'Handoff' option disabled on all your devices. The 'Reset Networking' option did not work, there must be some setting stored which is only affected by the 'Reset all settings'. This means you will need to do some device configuration again after the reset such as wallpaper, sounds and other personalisations but this should not take long to put back.

Thanks, I'll try it out. However I had no handoff devices enabled under bluetooth. I'll try unpairing - disabling and restarting the phone.

Appreciate your time.

Cool. If you have no other devices appearing then doing what you have said should be enough to resolve it for you. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks buddy, worked perfectly. Screw handoff.

Is there a temporary fix to allow things like wireless speakers and earpieces to work? Hopefully Monday's 8.1 release will fix this problem.

Too much hassle to scroll up the page?
If you have one device, disable Handoff. If you have multiple, follow the steps above.

Scroll up? That's a new concept! <j/k> :)

I thought that info was for people having an issue using it in their cars. Maybe I'll give it a shot to see if it will work with my speaker. Thanks for posting it!

No problem with my Sony head unit and iPhone 6. There was some stuttering during playback, but so far it seems to have been an effect of trying to run a Pebble at the same time!

It affects most Bluetooth connections, not just the cars. It should work for you. :)

I'm having the same issue in my 2013 BMW where i can't hear or place any calls through the car's speaker. However, i heard that 8.1 (which is suppose to be out monday 20 october)fixes the bluethooth.

iPhone6 via Entune not working in Prius

Looks like a lot of us have similar problems. New iPhone6, IOS 8.1.1 connect via entunes (password/user name) all ok. Can get Pandora but no hands free phone access or internet. Keep getting message "no connection"

What to do???? Is there a fix out there? does anyone know if Apple working on this?

iPhone 4S and Bluetooth to VW stopped with 8.1

Well I went and upgraded my iPhone 4S from 7.0.4 to 8.1 and now my Bluetooth Connection drops and tries to reconnect 3 to 4 times before it stops trying to connect at all.
I then upgraded to 8.1.1 and still the same problem.
Talked with VW and they are aware of the problem and cannot understand why Apple has to fiddle with the Bluetooth standard.
If it worked fine with ios 7.0.4, then why have they changed anything?
I am getting to the stage where I am almost ready to drop Apple iPhones totally.
When driving my car I need to have this feature. A law, Must use Hands-Free in car. It is built into the car and a standard exists, even though there are a few, there is no reason to release an update that hasn't been tested throughly. And then even release another update so soon and it still doesn't work. Has Apple stated working with MS to learn how to skrew up a running system? Looks like it.
Gonna have to start using my LG phone instead which still works after upgrading to the latest OS.

Pee:d off iPhone user!

Well, after having no bluetooth issues at all it seems iOS 8.1.1 has changed something. Now, whenever my 6 Plus connects to any car-based bluetooth system and switches to the BT Audio input my Music App starts playing, even if the app is completely closed not just in the background. Originally the previously used audio app would start playing, which would usually be Spotify. Now, like it or not, I get the music app playing away. If no audio app was in the background then nothing would play, so all I had to do was make sure Spotify was killed if I didn't want it to start up automatically. Now, not only can I not avoid auto-play, it's not even the app I want to listen to that starts up.

Bellevue Apple Store

I have had the 6 for about a month and ran into the pairing issue with my WRX. Didn't think it was a well known issue, so I stopped at the Apple Store in Bellevue, WA about two weeks ago and let them know I was having issues.

Long story short I waited for someone to help me and let them know what was going on. He stood there and told me that it must be your outdated firmware in my car system... Basically, he lied to my face.

I don't care if Apple products are not perfect, but I do care if there is a known problem and an "expert" should at least let me know that there have been issues and they are working on it and not blame others. I figured Apple would have learned from their mistakes.

This is my last Apple product I will buy. I am done with them.

Connectivity issues

Apple fixed the connectivity issue with the second update!!!! THEN, they had to go and do another update, which screwed it up again!!! So frustrating....so now mine doesn't connect again.

My Subaru Forrester will not automatically connect to my iPhone six. Fortunately, it will connect manually, although it is a pain to do this every time I start the car. Given that some people can't connect their phones at all, it seems silly to be overly upset about this.

Having said that, I really hope Apple eventually figures these issues out. Also I reported the bug to Apple as well… Fingers crossed!

You should probably use a few Windows machines and devices to experience the hell that comes with them before you start chastising Apple over something minute.

I'll take these minor issues over that ANY day. ;)

I use a Samsung laptop running win 7. I replaced the stock drive with a Samsung 840 pro. SSD. Best laptop I've ever had. 2 years in the same os install. Runs fast and smooth. Never a problem. I don't understand the hate for windows. XP was ok. Win7 is great. 8 is smooth and never crashes on my media server.
