Core OS integration?

With the Messages app, I guess is what I meant.

I've seen QuickReply kind of apps but all the ones I saw usually filtered the messages through their own app (like BiteSMS).

Should have been here already...

Very interesting! Because I don't like having to switch to apps all the time to respond to a notification, I would love this feature. In fact, why doesn't iOS 7 have this?!?!

this is awesome and I hope it can be implemented in iOS8...: this is why some of us jailbreak...simply quick reply. I also like the idea of having whatever you are doing, at the time of the notification, to be blurred out like the notification center. here's to being hopeful for this or similar in 2014.

Hi everyone,

YouTube: video

Just made this concept video and thought I would share it with you.

The first video here looks at how Interactive Notifications, or 'Quick Reply' could easily be integrated into the next operating system update. Look forward to seeing your thoughts on the concept!

I'm planning on making a couple more videos in the near future.

I've been wanting quick reply for SOO long. This time, if Apple does not give it to me, I SWEAR I am.....going to buy the iPhone and continue to wish Apple would give me quick reply.

Great concept.

You better get some money out of this. I know theyll use it. They already have it in the mbp though:/

Just awesome, simple and nice, this would be very effective, would love for you to send this to apple lol

OSX Mavericks has the interactive notifications so Apple has already explored that path. My disappointment is the lack of it found in iOS 7. interactive or "quick reply" will defiantly be added to iOS 8 or somewhere between iOS 7.1 or 7.2. Great concept, Saw it on Youtube!!.

That would likely get in the way and be inconsistent with the notification center use which comes down whenever you pull down on a notification (as it does when you pull down from the top of the screen in general).

I know, but just because it is inconsistent with the notification centre now, doesn't mean that it's not a better way of implementation - notification comes in and you swipe up to dismiss, swipe down to interact.

Elegant solution.

Out of curiosity, what software did you use to generate this video? Final Cut Pro?

The art for this was just so...amazing. The design was very apple-like and official-looking! I watched the video more than once because of it. :D

The feature itself is great and I definitely want to see that implemented in a future iOS release. Sure there might be jailbreak tweaks that do something similar to this, but Apple's implementation is nearly the best. :p

Keep up the great work with presenting your great ideas! :)

iPhone Screen Size

I like how the iPhone in the video has a larger screen than any real iPhone actually does. It looks pretty cool.

Not sure how this is any different from switching to messages by tapping the notification other than the arbitrary timeout to switch back to the running app. Seriously, how would you choose a timeout that would work for everyone? When would you know when the user is satisfied with the interaction being done?

Truly that can't be solved satisfactorily for everyone.

Nice Work!

So the overlay return as soon as a message is sent in return.

What happens if I press the notification and the message I am sent does not require a response?

How does the overlay revert back to the original app then?

I would love a feature like this, I used a GS3 for about a week and they have apps that work similarly to this and I loved it. It would work really nice with iOS since it does not have true multitasking and every time I go to respond to a message and go back to the app/game I have to wait for it to load up again.

Isn't there a cancel button to get out of it? Seems like there is on the top.

Plus you only get the overlay if you select the "Reply" option in the notification rather than just press/tap the notification (which I would assume still simply take you directly into the Messaging app as it does now)--so if you pressed reply then you likely wanted to reply rather than just see the message, right?
