I never used the stock weather app, but my take on TWC.. I went on vacation in Florida and checked TWC before I went. Said it was going to rain/thunderstorm EVERY single day of my trip. It rained a grand total of about 20 minutes all at once, then sunny skies the rest of the time.

A contact I deal with at work went on vacation somewhere in the US and said he was disappointed because it was supposed to rain the entire time. Like me, he had gotten his info from TWC. After he came back he said the weather was beautiful.

After that, I concluded that TWC employes a bunch of chimps how throw a dart at a dart board and that's the weather forecast.

I hope Weather Underground or WeatherBug or somebody comes out with a clean widget for the notification center.

Maybe this change wasn't at Apple's initiative; maybe they were approached by TWC directly with a better deal.

BTW, folks. This is why the weather widget is so useless, Android's too. They rely on crap data sources.

I'm going to still stick to the web version of TWC. Where i live the difference between my house an 4 miles east can be as much as 15 degrees higher. The TWC page lists surrounding communities. Probably not an issue for most of you, but essential for me.

I know a number of high level people at Yahoo and they all agree Marissa is all over the place.

Looks like a nice improvement. I hope the accuracy improves, too. It was cloudy where I live this morning, yet the app said it was sunny.

Lockscreen

If I can get both hourly and weekly at the same from Siri, I'll be super happy.

Most times when I check the weather, I end up asking for both anyways, if I can get both, that'll be great!

I think Apple would have a much different perspective on this if they didn't live in Southern California.

Ummm.......?

You might want to check your maps again.
Cupertino does not reside in Southern California, or at least it doesn't yet.

Weather channel data is a bit more accurate IMO (even though they have been slacking a bit)

Ya who? ..................1997 is calling...............I thought those guys disappeared long ago with altavista and excite.

How about for the UK we get the most accurate weather predictor: the MET office?

Bump the lower left hand corner of the stock Weather app, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

More interesting is the note telling me that "Do Not Track" is no longer enabled on Yahoo, and my "experience" is now "personalized". Unbelievable.
That seems to just open search.yahoo.com in Safari and then whatever that page does is the same as if you just went to it in Safari yourself or some other way. The weather app itself doesn't really do anything in relation to it (besides having a link to a web page). Personally never bumped or tapped on that area on purpose or accidentally so never even noticed that it links somewhere.

As opposed to the many CEOs before her?

Apparently the reality of 2014 called.

The Weather Channel Max app was the first one I paid for when it was on sale for 99 cents. Its still my weather app of choice.

Neither WC nor Yahoo has weather data for my little Eurotrash town... it pretends to, but the data is identical to a coastal town some 35 km southeast of here that often has substantially different weather. This is only an issue with Apple/Yahoo/Weather Channel, every other app/widget/gadget I've tried gets it right (AccuWeather etc).

I use one that works of course, it just bums me out that the weather shown on the Today screen is a big fat lie. C'mon guys, it's a town of 30,000, not a mountain shack.

I've found the current Apple weather app next to useless for prediction temps lately unless you live in a town with a weather station. As an example here right now in Caloundra it's 16°C and that's what the app says, but in the next hour it says it will be 8°C at 9am, gradually getting to 16 at 1pm. But just 25km up the road in Maroochydore the temps are correct 16 now, 19 at 9am with a high of 23°C by 1pm. So the algorithms used to predict temps and forcasts for rain in some areas are useless on the current Apple Weather App.

Apple should stay away from Yahoo.
Marissa Mayer is the most incompetent CEO in tech.
She's managed to tick off almost every single yahoo user, me included

WC and Yahoo both provide inaccurate forecasts for Melbourne, Australia, which renders the app effectively useless. What a shame.
I'm hoping the BOM can release a widget.
