iPhone 4S, clean install, so I don't think reseting the network settings will improve something for me.

I previously used the app named Carat to evaluate my battery life, on iOS 7.1.2 I had a battery life of approximately 7-8 hours and a J-Score of 70-80 (i.e. my battery life was better than 70-80% of iPhones using Carat) and now on iOS 8 I barely have a battery life of 4 hours and my J-Score dropped to 20...

Tweebot seems to use way more battery compared to iOS 7 and is the major offender in iOS 8, maybe it is just not optimized for iOS 8 right now.

my tweetbot hardly uses any battery..always among the lowest on the battery usage list

The latest version, Tweetbot 3? Have you enabled background refresh?

I have disabled background refresh for Tweetbot since my last full battery charge, I will see if it help.

yes its tweetbot 3, background refresh is off, i have that off for all apps & was the same in ios 7 too

Don't know if my 3 years old 4S is draining more battery or if the indicator is much more precise than 7.1.2 (sometimes phone shut off at 15-20%).

With my last full recharge on my 4S (and background refresh turned off for Tweetbot, which now seems to use less battery) I had ~5 hours of active battery usage with more than 24 hours of idle battery usage. I think this is respectable.

the biggest fix for me was disabling gps in privacy for messages. it was constantly on whilst i was messaging.

battery back to normal

iphone 5, battery is in line with ios 7.1.2

Safari seems to drain EVERYONE's battery... hmmm

Not necessarily a drain... If that's what you're using most of the time, it's natural that Safari will be the highest percentage of total usage time.

It would be an abnormal drain if you weren't using safari all that much, yet it showed up as a high usage item.

I'm a little sad that the GM was the Final build (as it usually is) because on iphone5 the mail app, and to some degree safari, but specially mail app kills my phone.. never had a problem before, ever. Now if I open mail and enable the 15min fetch which ive used for years.. I see my battery start dropping within minutes..

Currently I am using chrome as my browser and gmail mail app for mail, and I have an insane battery life.. unplugging from power at around 8.20 in the morning, then a full day of work 8-9 hours with normal use, check news, messages, fb messenger all on wifi I still have around 45% left when I leave work at 6pm, usally when I go to bed around 12.30 - 01 am I still have ~ 23% or so the last few days.

anyway my point is, something is REALLY off with the mail app currently. specially since the gmail mail app syncs my emails faster too.

I am getting an iphone 6 delivered tomorrow and I really hope it won't have this issue.

iOS 8 GM battery life

I installed iOS 8 on 2 iPod 5th gens and they seem to be working fine. They were just a little laggy on iOS 7 but they are no worse now on iOS 8. I'm pretty sure they are the same hardware as iPhone 4s.

Sorry, I think I replied to the wrong thread.

I'm on iPad Air and iPhone 5S and both have better battery life than they did a week ago. I think the devices had to adjust to iOS 8

Has anyone gotten a 6 or 6 plus yet? I know it's VERY early but how's the battery?

Hello everyone

Following is my battery reading on an Apple iPhone 5c.

1.5hrs talk time.
6hrs usage.
14hrs standby
Below 20% battery remaining.

No data or spotlight suggestions have been enabled.

Is it what I can expect from iOS 8 on 5C?

It's different or at least can be different for everyone, so hard to say what you can expect or will see. Plenty of people haven't seen their battery usage change much one way or another, some have seen it get worse, a few have seen it get better (again, based on just anecdotal observations essentially).

But there would an average number for battery life for Apple iPhone 5c right?
I wanted to know whether my readings are normal or abnormal.

I have an iPad4 which I downloaded and installed IOS8 when it came out. I have been getting consistant 10hrs plus until last week. That's when I decided to retrieve my backup from icloud. What I find very strange is from that backup with a full charge until yesterday I got well over 13plus hrs of use with 6day and 2hrs of standby. Last night I recharged over night and my battery life is still looking great. I have never in the past gotten more than about 11hrs use. Now I just hope that it will continue. One more thing... When I check my battery usage Safari shows it taking 68 percent. other things were much less.

I bought an iPhone 6 and restored from backup and my battery life is great
