I'm hoping that resetting the network settings resolves my battery life issue. I have an iPhone 5, and this thing gets WARM and the battery life is pure crap since installing the iOS 8 GM. Just as I type this, the battery percentage dropped from 75% to 55%. I'm glad my iPhone 6 arrives on Friday so I can sell this thing and be rid of it.

Somehow, my 4S' battery life is way longer!

I used it all day yesterday, and it's still on 35% this morning. Impressive!

It said YouTube 'audio' is the biggest battery sucker, but I didn't use the app at all since iOS 8 was installed. Is Google secretly running it in the background?

the first couple of days it was complete crap for me, barely lasting until around 4pm, but the last two days or say with a full cycle charge, its definitely lasting a lot longer then ios 7.1.2 for me and oh im using an iphone 5s

This!

First few days my battery drained approx 1% a min during usage, now it's stabalized a little and I'm getting roughly the same as 7.1.4.

iPhone 5S if that helps :)

I'm getting terrible battery life on iOS 8 GM as well. iPhone 5S draining about 15 to 20% every hour. According to Usage the offender is the lock screen  not sure what's going on with it. I only noticed because the phone has been in my pocket all day and it vibrated to alert me that the power level was at 20% left.

Is the Vibration feature on Battery "status" an IOS8 feature? is it easily turned on also?

The first day I installed GM, battery life was horrible. I noticed my location services were constantly running too. Since then, my battery life has been much better and location services backed off a lot. I reset all settings and network settings. So maybe that had something to do with it.

I did this too and things have steadied a great deal. I got 6 hours of use yesterday on my 5S including roughly 50-60 minutes of Netflix and Podcast streaming over LTE yesterday and a good mix of screen-on use otherwise, and today it's been 2 hours of use and 6 hours since unplugging and I'm at 80%, with a mix of LTE and WiFi.

It seems resetting "network settings" helps fix battery issues. I haven't seen a vast amount of change but there is an improvement!

On both my iPhone 5 and iPad 4 battery life appears to be indistinguishable from iOS 7.

iOS 8 GM battery life

Battery life is the same as ios 7 for me. I'm on a 5s with 115 apps and all services active. I get around 8 hours usage and 13-16 standby depending on how much I've used the phone throughout the day. I'm sure this will improve after the apps are all updated because right now some of the apps work like crap. Yes I'm looking at you facebook.

After installing beta 5, I had really bad battery drain (20%/hr on standby). Eventually I narrowed it down by downloading an app called "System Activity Monitor" to have a look at CPU usage. I found that "assetsd" was using the majority of CPU and my CPU usage was pinned at 100%. A quick google search revealed that this process is responsible for syncing photos with iCloud. I shut off photo stream and my battery drain disappeared. Days later I turned it back on and had no future battery drain.

Perhaps you will find that toggling photo stream off/on will work to solve your problem - or downloading an activity monitor app to check what process(es) are using your CPU will help give a clue how to resolve it.

NOTE: this information is with regard to my experience when I installed beta 5, but the same general concept is applicable to GM. Personally I have had no battery issue on GM.

I ran every beta and had crap battery life. I feel that the GM is the best battery life I've had on my phone yet! Making it throughout the day and still around 45-50%

I was having awful battery life on my 5s after updating to the GM, and one night it got so hot from charging that I could hardly touch the phone. I took it into the Apple store and they tested my battery and said it was fine. The guy was worried about the heating issue so he replaced my phone anyways. I set it up as a new phone and it worked fine. Later, I installed the GM and now the battery life is just as bad as before.

Does anyone else consistently have the home screen/lock screen as the biggest power consumer? other than when I netflix and podcast-streamed and those two took the top spots, my home screen and lock screen are using 15-18% of my 24h battery life stats.

Does anyone know if battery life is drastically altered on iPad 3 and iPhone 4S?
As usually everyone has different experiences so not much can really be said about it in general or what would really indicate much to others.

Looks like resetting Network Settings has fixed the battery life problem for me.

I'm at 80% after 8 hours 7.5 hours of standy and 2.5 hours of usage (light surfing, podcasts).

Yesterday I would have been in the high 60%.

As well, I'm not seeing 'Low Signal' under Battery Usage. Yesterday nearly all of my apps showed 'Low Signal'

iPhone 4S, clean install, so I don't think reseting the network settings will improve something for me.

I previously used the app named Carat to evaluate my battery life, on iOS 7.1.2 I had a battery life of approximately 7-8 hours and a J-Score of 70-80 (i.e. my battery life was better than 70-80% of iPhones using Carat) and now on iOS 8 I barely have a battery life of 4 hours and my J-Score dropped to 20...

Tweebot seems to use way more battery compared to iOS 7 and is the major offender in iOS 8, maybe it is just not optimized for iOS 8 right now.

Currently sitting on 1% with 6 hours 38 minutes usage and 15 hours 14 minutes of standby.

Was off charge at 7am and hasn't been plugged in since, not bad at all.
