great update.

overall my phone feels a little more "premium" and durable in hand-- also seems to be a little more water-resistant. anyone else notice this?

I've seen at least a dozen of these posts today, but when people ask that Apple increase the base storage from 16 GB everyone is in here swearing up and down they don't need the increased storage.

Not me buddy.. I ordered 128 and I think base should be 64 not 32!! The size of apps is higher photos higher. Hell I have 1.3 GB just in messages. 64,128,256 IMO

Looks like Android now.
It actually looks a lot like iOS 7. But there are many enhancements.

I missed that. But I'm finding you strangely attractive, all of the sudden. Have you done something with your OS?

Still no joy.

Peer-to-peer AirPlay - A new peer-to-peer AirPlay feature in iOS 8 will allow iOS devices to stream content to the Apple TV without the need for a shared network connection.

For me this is THE biggest feature in iOS8. This means I now only have to bring my iPad (or iPhone), an Apple TV, and a HDMI cable to be able to watch movies, give presentations, or share media on TVs outside the house. Always wondered why a Wifi network was required to do this, but no more!!!! :)

And this is why they should have just got rid of the 16 GB and kept 32 GB now people have no choice to get 64 GB that costs more where 32 GB would have easily just replaced the 16 GB, typical Apple not to sound like a dick.

I don't get it. Why does the battery usage by app say "Low Signal" under the word Phone? Is it implying it only counts the phone when you have low signal? It says phone with no signal takes up 31% of my usage, but I don't ever usually have low signal. I almost always have at least 3 bars.

Is it just me, or is hand-free Siri 100% useless? Who uses their iPhone or iPad while plugged in?

Well, thank $deity there are "hidden features" posts all over the place because I'm not actually seeing much difference at all on my iPad 4 - the refinements under the hood are not to be dismissed, but otherwise these tweaks and minor improvements are a little underwhelming.

Way back, I was told in minute technical details that cell/wifi devices spend a lot of resources trying to hold on a weak signal than when they have a clean strong one - no idea if this is still the case here.

I think this will be useful for me. I can be away from the phone in the room, doing laundry or something, and just tell siri to resume music or remind me of a task. Or while driving, with the phone in the holder, to listen up.

I use my iPod often with it plugged in. Usually all night long playing science audio books that I need to listen to dozens of times. It would be great if I could tell siri to rewind instead of opening it up and getting blinded by the light.

I use siri for setting timers while I cook. Will be nice not having to clean my hands before asking her. Will now also be able to have her do other things as well like start/stop music and skip tracks while I'm airplaying to my stereo. All things I do with it plugged in.

Those are definately good uses for Siri hands free but my point is you should be able to do all that without HAVING to plug it in. You don't have to with Google Now.

This is what will happen - next June, Craig Federighi will announce that you can now use Siri without plugging it in, all of Moscone Center will squeal with delight, and Android fans will point out that they've been doing that for 2 years. The more thjngs change, the more they stay the same.

I'm gonna wait a little while to install it, let you all be my guinea pigs, and get a fast download speed when I do download it in a couple days if the reports from people say it has no major problems.

You still shouldn't have to take the step of plugging it in. You don't have to with Google Now.

Agreed that would be nice...sounds like another feature to add to the M8 co-processor since that chip is always on - maybe Iphone 6S?
