um. learning curve. i've been using swype for at least 6 years and do about 65wpm now - if you have the tenacity to stick with it it takes about 6 months to get reasonably good. until now, those of us coming from android and windows mobile and swype have been appalled with the slowness of input in iOS. you're never too old to learn something new. enjoy!

Well, I'll give it a bit more time, but certainly won't be 6months, unless things start to improve a fair bit. It's not so much the speed, but the sheer number of mistakes that's frustrating.

I now have 6 keyboards and I've been using Swiftkey as my default keyboard and Kuaiboard for quick responses. What a breath of fresh air iOS 8 has been. And tomorrow I'll be visiting my local carrier store to pick up my 64GB 6.

I would never change an apple keyboard for something that originated on android.

pull down for notifications...larger screens...

----------

Non Apple keyboards don't seem to have a click sound. Anyone know how to get that back? It sounds strange, but it really helps me for some reason, lol.

I wish that phones recognised when they were moving and turned off clicks and bongs on public transport, nothing worse than some (usually older) person clicking away...

Android didn't invent bigger screens or pull down notification. Do some research and learn. You really can't say that you invented a bigger screen when screen of all sizes have existed for over 30 plus years. Pull down notifications? Ill make you research that one.

Many millions of us went through the process knowing the result would be worth it, and it's so worth it. Just keep at it. In a month you'll be stunned at how awful it was for Apple to deny swyping to iOS users; you'll also start to see why many Android fans alternately laugh and feel sorry for iPhone owners.

So how does this work with the operating system? Do you have to keep the apps installed after you add the keyboard?

iOS keyboard shortcuts?

I have quite a few iOS keyboard shortcuts such as addresses and URLs that I use a lot.

Do any of these (a) allow access to the Apple keyboard shortcuts
or
(b) allow you to download/upload shortcuts from a text file on your Mac?

Any other keyboard shortcut tricks?

The default keyboard is the best because it is not buggy.

It is horrid to type on though. iOS 6 and less keyboard was so much nicer to type with. I am often mistyping keys with the stock iOS 7/8 keyboard.

No matter; SwiftKey decimates all.

Yes, seriously - this needs to be it's own category!

I agree a separate keyboard category should be created.
I did notice that Apple created a (temporary?) category in 'Featured' which is called 'Add New keyboards'. But it only features 3 popular keyboards, although there are already 14 keyboards and more to be expected.

The majority of keyboards is now within the Category 'Services'.
