Does Apple ever listen to what we say? I really don't see the point of this thread. They make the decisions, so you either jailbreak or buy something else. Complaining won't cause Apple to magically change their minds.

I hate iOS 7. I refused to upgrade my iPad 3 to that garbage. I have read numerous complaints on iOS 7. I am hoping beyond hope that Apple restores the look and feel that iOS 6 had. Better yet, bring back the guy that was fired. He knew his ****. I also cannot stand that iOS 7 uses dots for the signal bar. I have and never will accept this. Anyone else hoping that iOS 8 restores the classic iphone look? I wish iOS 6 was available for the iphone 5S with all its features. UGH.

Don't hold your breath. Apple is not going to go backwards in design.

You never know.

They said Apple would never have a smaller iPad...and now we have iPad Mini. Look at the Calendar in iOS 7.1 that brings back what was removed from iOS 6 (and earlier) Calendar. That's not to say it's because of threads or something like that, but it's to say that things do change and it's hard to say what exactly or what combination of what kinds of things (slowly or not so slowly) influence the decisions.

if people followed your logic this forum would have 1 thread/day lol. :)

iOS 6 looks old and stale. We don't need "glossy" and skeumorphism any more, because the vast majority of people using iPhones know how to use them. They no longer need the visual metaphors to help them relate a UI item to the task it performs because they know what it does now.
Back when iOS was iPhone OS, it was great and fresh. But it grew old. It was tired. It was stale. It needed a change and the UI and design language of iOS 7 are much, much better.

You forgot to add "in my opinion".

REALLY? No. I thought I was speaking in facts!
In a conversation that is so clearly based mostly or entirely on opinion, you shouldn't have to state "in my opinion" before sharing your opinion on a subject...

You said "we don't need" etc, thus making it a statement of fact rather than an opinion.

iOS 7 is still stale... It just the plain old iOS with fresh UI....Most of the changes happened in iOS 7 were jailbroken tweaks from ages ago. Really, Apple did not bring any new things to the table...

According to the article on the front page, iOS 8 will even less so.

:confused::confused:

If you're unhappy with iOS, there are plenty of other platforms.

People complained when iOS 5 and iOS 6 were release, saying it was stale. I fail to see how going back to those OS would be any sort of improvement.

Before iOS 7 everyone whined and complained that Apple needed a new UI. I was not among one of those complainers because I liked it just as it was. Now they have changed it and those same people are not happy. I was always for under the hood changes but keeping the same look because it worked.

They can keep some of the iOS 7 look in 8, but just more texture to stuff. That's what I'm talking about. Oh and they can restore the old keyboard and animated too.

Lets not generalize too much. I was among the group that thought iOS 7 needed a UI refresh. I love iOS 7's look. Actually, almost everyone I have met loves it. Unfortunately you're part of a vocal minority. If you ACTUALLY think they're going to bring back much of the iOS 6 look, you are going to be very disappointed. If you hate iOS 7 that much, I'm sure Windows Phone would love you have you, or Android.

I would be terribly disappointed if they moved BACK to an iOS 6-like design....

At this point, the OS LOOKS like it belongs in the modern world. Enough with the skeuomorphic textures and nonsense. This is a piece of technology, not a notepad or paper calendar.

Give me Quick Reply, better attachment options and a Finder App in iOS 8 and I will be completely and utterly satisfied (though I already am content).

Things like Healthbook, gesture typing, etc would be nice - but I don't feel they're necessary.

If you hate it that much, move to Android. Simple. Its a great alternative.

Please do not say "Everyone". Again, I like the way it looks and know many other people who do. Unfortunately for some, things change. There are other options available out there if you are unhappy with the direction of iOS.

Bravo - completely agree. Well said. Too bad few listen.

The designs in iOS 7 are not bad, they're just too much. They are too extreme. I really, really liked the texture look iOS 6 had to it. It was so nice to look at on the iphone. The worst thing they did was take away the bars for the signal. The dots are horrible, absolutely horrible.

Design has trends, just like fashion. This was the equivalent of going from late-70s shag carpet and bellbottoms to 80s tube tops and fluorescent lipstick. It's not just Apple, it's an industry-wide trend. Apple was actually late to the party. Gaudy textures were popular on late-90s websites also. I'm sure in another 10-15 years we'll see them again, when a new set of freshly-minted Art Directors think that stitched leather textures and faux brushed metal are so retro-cool.

But don't be that guy that's still wearing wide-collar shirts and a plaid sportcoat five years after they're out of style. Those textures aren't coming back for a long time.

I understand what you are saying, but I find it somewhat silly that what an OS looks like on your personal electronic device is somehow even in the same league as clothing or interior or exterior design is which is seen publicly. That said, all are pretty meaningless things as function should be valued over form, but most certainly in an OS compared to fashion/design which is much more form heavy and is fairly different.

There are definitely design trends in technology, so I feel the comparison was apt.

I feel the same way about iOS 7 and its design - it was definitely a step in the necessary direction.

You're in denial and blinded by these rare "complaints" that you hear. iOS 7 is awesome and stable.

I did not say I am going back nor I am going to switch other platform... Because I am using other platform in same time.

I say iOS is stale because it is still older way of doing things. Multiple users support, iPad simultasking, some short of file management, better keyboard etc. Those features are considered as must have features in 2014 and long presented in other platform. I care less about how iOS looks and want real features.

May I add ability to change keyboard and default apps?

ios 7 defense

The defense of iOS 7, which includes statements like skeumorphism is redundent, because Iphone users know what everything is already, excludes new users from the market. Such a statement is pure arrogance.

If apple wanted to innovate, they would empower the users to alter the user interface, so to be happy with it. Give us the tools to change the interface, maybe change it into something really odd, or really simple. Allow us to sell these changes on the apple store, where by apple may make profit and everyone is made happy by being empowered by personal choice.

I know I said this already but I just want to make sure its clear. I LOVE THE NEW SIGNAL BARS! The second I seen them on June 10th last year I was like I want those as much as I want the control center those are awesome please dont make me wait until September to get those. I just like them.

Bars are ubiquitous with signal strength and the dots were definitely a change for the sake of change. Why don't they change the wifi symbol squares or triangles or something. I get that this was something Jony Ive wanted to implement since the iPhone prototype but it's form over function!

Bars take up less space on the status bar (I thought iOS 7 was supposed to be about minimalism anyways). Plus, it looks kinda weird on the home screen considering the same old dots at the bottom for page indicators.

Apple should at least give us the option to change it back to bars in iOS 8.

Not only that but bars are more or less pretty much an industry standard, so moving away from them to something that really isn't any more better in any real and/or useful way (and to something that takes up more space too for no good reason), doesn't really make for a good or a needed change at all.

I like the look of the dots... but now that several have pointed out how much space they take up , I'll have to reluctantly agree that bars are superior, on such a small screen. I also cannot grasp at all why the carrier name has to be up there- it's the biggest space sucker of all. On the other hand, since the bar doesn't give us notification icons like android has had for more than three years, I guess there is no point in freeing up space just to have blankness.

I want the old signal bars back too.
The carrier name should be moved to the notification center or settings only. The there is free space for notification icons (for at least phone, messages and mail apps to start with)
