iOS 8 to Include Battery Usage Per App and Much More

Folks,

here are two iPad2 iOS8 Camera app screenshot showing:

- the exposure square (no focus square on the iPad2 as it's a fixed-focus device. But at least you can see (see the bulb icon next to the square) that it's indeed setting the exposure.)

- the time-lap menu option (I've set it to be the currently selected one). Currently, time-lap doesn't seem to work:

- delayed (configurable to 3s and 10s) single shooting in the default Photo mode, on the other hand, works just fine. A screenshot showing both the time selector and the countdown in progress (see the big "2" in the center):

- as opposed to what the above article states ("iPads will gain the ability to take Panoramic photos like the iPhone"), there's no sign of pano shooting on the iPad 2. (Dunno if the iPad3+ support pano mode - any report?)

Yeah Wi-Fi calling might help to tip the scales in Apple's favor over at T-Mobile. They're the only carrier where the iPhone isn't the best selling device.

For those who don't know, this is superior to FaceTime Audio as it totally replaces your cellular signal with Wi-Fi. It's like having 5 bars of signal. You can make calls, send SMS and MMS to any device (doesn't have to be an iOS device) even in an area where you have no signal from your carrier at all. Great for those buildings with materials that block cellular signals. A side benefit too is that when you're overseas it behaves as if you're in the US.

Oh come on. That's not trolling. After years of "Samesung" comments, the tables have turned, and the Apple fans don't like it.

There's no question Apple are just incorporating features that have been available on other platforms for years.

"Ok, Google" and "Hey, Siri". That's blatant copying, you can't argue with that.
 
Already in Android

Wow, another Apple innovation already contained in Android. Wouldn't it just be better to put these small features in without an announcement?

Swiftkey is on its way..... rejoice! Hopefully some of the Android hand writing input extensions too (there are some which are simply amazing).

It's going to be a great update, 10x ("ex" really? the word is "times"!) better than the iOS 7 "flat" update, this is a real user experience improvement.

What good is it for Android to have new features when 9% of Android users actually get it? 😉

Yes thats very true, that what I look for, old Android features finally going to iOS. But thats ok, I prefer smoother, stabler, securer and integrated, more than missing a few features, so when they catchup, its good.

The SMS and calling using iPad and Mac is a huge integration, I love using iMessage when on my rMBP,to see all my non Apple texts , and call handsfree with my laptop, I can see that gettingf new users

Or you could just use Android, and benefit from the already existing features and the high level of smoothness, security, and the ability to update within 10 seconds of an update being released??? Exclude the last 3 points.

He cares, he is an Android user with a high level of interest in Apple products and services, I bet his friends don't know he is here.

We would never know, but I'd love to know how many want to get an iPhone, but keep that to themselves as their friends use Android?

Seeing that Google Now itself is a copy of Siri I fail to see what point you're attempting to make. You do realize Google did their personal assistant after Apple came out with Siri right? That's what I call blatant copying if you want to go there. Like most things in Android.

Yes, for some. Can you use your PC, and Android phone (any Android phone) and Android tablet to send and recieve every text SMS, every phone call, and video/audio using inbuilt apps? The prpblem is that your platform cannot copy Apple and copy the security, smoothness, pro lool, and updateability

Mate they are all different, pick what you want, but welcome to the Apple forums where you should actually have no interest.

I dont mind Android or Windows Phone, but I'm not wasting my time reading stuff that is of no use to me. So why are you here?? You are interested and you do want to go Apple, admit it

The fingerprint scanner on the S5 was blatant copying. Companies copy each other, get used to it.

...and most importantly, it retains your outgoing cell phone number so your friends and family know it's you who is calling. As opposed to using SkypeOut to call them, or have them launch an app ahead of time for you to be able to connect, or call from some foreign number due to your temporarily-installed SIM card...

It just works, and when it works, it works seamlessly. Like you're just making a call. Only with strong WiFi and no worry about weak cellular signal standing in your way.

Yeah, WiFi calling is coming in iOS 8, and it's a killer feature for iPhone, finally. And it may get me to switch carriers after all, when I'm due my upgrade in October.
