I also think the battery drain is higher with the new iOS on my 5s, might be because the location services arrow seems to be on all the time now, in iOS7 it would go off as soon as I stopped using apps like the Maps.

Also I've notices the Setting app 'crashing' a number of times when making setting changes.

No issues

I noticed some lagging issues after my iPhone 5 was updated. I rebooted the phone and have not had any issues since. Battery life and wifi are normal.

both issues here

harder for me to determine whether or not battery life is worse because I am on a new 6 but it does seem to use up more than my 5S. Seems to be using more on standby than the 5S.

Wifi speeds, both devices running iOS 8:

ping Down Up
5S: 22ms | 29Mbps | 5.97Mbps
6: 20ms | 16Mbps | 6Mbps

both phones sitting right next to the router. the 6's performance degrades much faster than the 5S when I get further away from the router. They both show roughly the same signal strength in AirPort utility

There's seemingly like 10 new things that will surreptitiously use location services without making it obviously known to the user. I think that is the likely culprit as much as anything else for a battery drain. That said, I don't think I've been conscious of any major drain on my IP6. WiFi I do agree with - my speediest on my phone shows much slower results than when I check on my mac.

Additionally, the DND/mute feature for specific text threads also seems to be a great idea done poorly. I've enabled DND on threads and still been alerted when texts show up in them. I've unfortunately not been able to really test it when the phone is locked (as luck would have it), but an apple rep I chatted with on the support site suggested that it would only work when the phone is locked and that I will still get alerted as usual otherwise. That's kind of a half ass way to do it.

I've actually found that iOS 8 improved the battery life on my iPhone 5. Now, it might be my imagination, but I'm certain it's no worse than before.

:apple:

No problems with my iPhone 5. I get pretty much a whole day of battery life, the same I got with iOS 7.

This is what I got yesterday:

Do you know when I upgraded to 7?

a month ago and... I had problems.

Do not upgrade your iOS like that, wait! like 6 months at least.

Perhaps people are seeing a drain on battery because they are using it more often because there are new features? Everytime a new version is released, or a new iPhone, people seem to complain about the battery. I drained my iPhone 6 today because I can't stop using it, not because it has battery issues.

iOS 8 has a new feature that let's you see the top ten (it's ten for me at least) apps by battery usage with there respective percentage. It seems to attribute the battery usage to the foreground app (which means battery consumption with no app open is listed under Home & Lock Screen), plus it adds the battery consumed due to background activity of any given app. It also lists what was the main activity within a given app in regard to battery usage.

It's under Settings -> General -> Usage -> Battery Usage

Everybody having high battery drain should have a look there and report which are the top consumers.

Edit: Watabou has posted a screenshot of this.

Very choppy WiFi here only on home network. Driving me crazy. At first I thought it was a FiOS issue but both new iPhone 6's in the house have the same problem. All other idevices, no problem. Even the iPad already in iOS 8.

This is absolutely a problem. I was waiting for this thread. I noticed right away my battery drains about 50%+ faster, with NO APPS open. Lol

not to mention countless bugs!

iPhone 5s 64GB

Unresponsive Apps,
The Messages search feature doesn't work
Screen glitches
Disappearing third party keyboards
Bluetooth music streaming gets cut off while taking a photo
Crashing or slow performance apps.

This is by far the buggiest and most ridiculous iOS upgrade.
It is a 7.5 upgrade at the best. Definitely not worth of a full version.
I will post a comparison of a jailbroken iOS 7 vs iOS 8 soon.
After "upgrading" to 8, I feel I went back in time 3 years.
It's a disgrace of an iOS. Stay tuned for the comparison. You won't believe it.

My iPad Air's WiFi lags really hard sometimes since updating to iOS 8, hope they provide a fix asap.

After installing 8, my battery was draing in lots of 5 and 6% at a time. I recharged 3 times in 1 day. That night I did a hard reboot and after draining the battery completely, did a full recharge. Luckily for me the battery drain was fixed.
Unfortunately my iPad Air could now be called iPad Vista as its now as slow as treacle, with some Safari crashes and a couple of other app crashes. I've been holding off reverting back to 7 but I'm hoping against hope it's going to roar back to life, a bit of wishful thinking I think.

It seems to me that if you must be among the very first to have the very first of the very latest, you are essentially signing up to experience the very first problems that typically come with being the very first to have the very first of the very latest. No?

This is exactly right. With millions of users testing, you find issues more quickly and issues that you thought you never had. Par for the course.

Foursquare was keeping my location services running 24/7, even though I wasn't using it and it wasn't in the background. I'm also getting Skype notifications even though I don't have the app open.

So I'm pretty sure my iPhone 6 battery is draining faster than it should because it's running this **** without me knowing about it.
