My iPhone 6 WiFi at home gave me 3.74 down and .71 up. That's definitely slower than with my 5. But subsequent tests got 29.59 down and 3.59 up. So who knows what's going on? Today at work, my iPhone wouldn't even load a page off the WiFi there. Tomorrow everything might be fine. I think the WiFi elves are playing around with the airwaves.

As far as battery usage goes, when I get home from work my iPhone has barely lost 25% of its power. So I don't have any complaints about that.

My 4s is affected by:
- glacially slow safari page loads.
- shortcuts hanging safari after the 2 or 3rd character is entered,
- copying passwords from keychain being hit or miss (ie last item in clipboard is not replaced with copied pw),
- (on my iPad mini, fields being filled in are obscured by the keyboard with no way to scroll up - one has to type blindly);
- trying to expand a highlighted section with the crop handles causes overly rapid scrolling such that the target is overshot);

Carryover flaws:
- right end of text string for long bookmark titles still can't be reached in edit window;
- crop handles are still difficult to grab.

On the other hand, the animations when you click the "show all windows" button in Safari is suddenly fluid and responsive in iOS 8.

One step forward, two steps back...

I'm seeing battery and Wi-Fi problems as well with new iPhone 6.

Battery seems to drain a lot faster than iOS 7 on my iPhone 5S did. I used to be able to get through a full work day with around 70-75% battery left. With iPhone 6, it's down to 71% already with two hours at work left to go.

Additionally, my Wi-Fi keeps dropping at home randomly. Sometimes it comes back after 10-15 minutes, other times I have to cycle Airplane Mode to get Wi-Fi to come back.

Sounds like we need iOS 8.0.1 sooner rather than later.

I have noticed WiFi hanging on loading app data and webpages. It will load half the page and stop. If I switch to LTE the full page loads almost instantly. I even reset my home network yesterday thinking it was the culprit.

I was getting terrible battery life for a couple of days after installing iOS 8. For example, I flew to New Orleans on Friday morning. I unplugged my phone at 5 am after letting it charge all night. By 11:45 am, my phone was completely dead. Remember, this included ~2 hours in a plane on airplane mode.

I charged it back to about 75% once I got to the hotel (took it off the charger maybe 1 pm or so). By 5 pm it was completely dead.

Seems to have calmed down a bit over the weekend. Maybe there was a lot of stuff running in the background. One thing of note was that my phone was just super hot while the battery was draining. I picked my wife's phone up (still on iOS 7) and there was a very noticeable temperature difference.

Guess we'll see if this behavior continues or not.

I have an iPhone 5 for those curious.

No issues in either regard for me on my iPhone 6, set-up as a new device, then restoring my settings and apps, etc...

No problems with wifi here. And I just noticed Verizon's starting to match upload speeds with download speeds :D

What iOS update doesn't see battery drains on the older devises. And wifi issues for that matter. Happens every time for some folks. LOL

yeah for real. every iOS update rev 1 has resulted in piss-poor performance going all the way back to iOS 4. i remember when i upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 5 it made by battery life so bad i couldn't even get to lunch time before it was in the single digit percentage.

IMO - anyone who updates to a rev 1 of a brand new iOS version is asking for trouble

Awesome, so my iphone 5 which had had worse battery life since ios7 will now have even worse of a battery life...Apple it just works.....

Battery Drain and slow

Just did test running over 60 meg down 20 up and my battery is way better. I assume some issues are with apps not optimized or have bugs.

My 5s when updated to the GM had terrible battery life, it would be 11AM and I was at 55% or so without heavy usage. I just got a new 6, and that one seems to be holding on much better, with much higher usage.

My iPad Air on iOS 8 also seemed to lose battery faster, and also the wifi would randomly drop.

nice. i got a notice about that too but i'm on the 15/5 plan. verizon keeps trying to kick me off it and agree to upgrade my internet service. to 25 down which they said they will then match to 25 up as well. i keep telling them why would i upgrade my plan when i am getting almost 25 down as is, and about 12-15 up. i'm getting beyond what i am paying for anyways. they said "really? well if you upgrade you'll get even more than 25 down i guess". i said NO THANKS and hang up

I was originally going to wait for some minor revision updates before updating my iPhone 5 (currently iOS 7), but I've decided to just not update at all. Not worth it, right?

Whenever a phone gets hot, it is using up a lot of battery. Thus whenever it gets hot in a situation and usage where it normally doesn't get hot, something went wrong and restarting the phone is highly recommended.

I have had neither on my iPad 3. Then again, I actually did it as a restore rather than just an update. Then restored my iCloud backup. Perhaps that is the reason why i haven't had any issues

No problems here

I have upgraded from iPhone5 to iPhone6 and if anything the performance is markedly better in terms of battery life and Wifi speeds.

I tried restarting it several times and the behavior persisted. I finally just turned it off for several hours and the behavior seemed to resolve itself.

It's the apps, people. Whenever a new version of the OS comes out there are apps that are not optimized for it, and those apps cause things like excessive battery drain, hang ups, memory leaks, etc.

It will all settle down shortly.

Curious thing about Ookla Speedtest; I've found that the app always defaults to a server that gives me 4-5mbps max. After running it once, I go in and RE-select "Auto Select Server" and run it again. The second test jumps up between 20-25mbps (which is what I pay for). This only seems to happen on my iPhone's. Not my iPad.

I would post a pic but I haven't been able to attach a pic since updating to iOS 8. Now THATS a problem. Haha

I have iPhone 4s, normally with iOS7.1.2 i d have like 15-20% left for intense/long browsing, 9gagging. after upgrade to ios8 first few days i was shocked why my phone drained so fast, so i turned of some stuffs in location services and some other things, now the battery seems even better than before, i keep like 30-35% at the end of the day. i think this iOS 8 allow user to turn off more battery drain stuffs, so that it can last longer? If you look at the location service > system service, there are more options which you can turn off than on the iOS7. Well just go through your iPhone preferences and turn off as many useless stuff as possible, it works for me.

Count me in on the slow wifi. It is like there is a one second delay between search and results.

Way longer for me, and it's been an issue since the early betas on my iPhone 5s. It's PAINFUL to use wifi for me with my latest-gem Time Capsule.

Apple and wireless technologies just never get on....

Whether it's antenna issues, wifi issues, BT issues.. - Apple + Wireless = BAD.

Rule #1 of getting more than you are supposed to is to NOT TELL THE PEOPLE YOU ARE GETTING MORE FROM ABOUT IT!!! Especially when they are trying to convince you to upgrade it so they can make more money =P

Your speeds are about to get throttled, and you have only yourself to blame!

Next time someone asks you how their service is, say: I would always be happy were it a little FASTER. Never, ever, say it's faster than you pay for lol...
