Hey, I'm sure the only reason why people will update to 9.2 is the ability to dismiss the Safari View Controller with an edge swipe. Not because of emoji - because 9.0 was a train wreck.

Correlation does not equal causation. This article implies that the increased adoption was caused by the availability of emojis.
E) Use company phones that can only be upgraded when the IT department says so.It was like 50% after only one week, 60% after like two weeks, and now only 66% ?
Which leads me to believe ~30% of the iOS ecosystem consists of 4 types of people :
A) Are waiting for a stable version
B) Don't care about upgrading
C) Don't know how to upgrade (moms and dads)
D) Tell themselves they will upgrade later but procrastinate
....assuming this % is based on iOS9-eligible devices.
It's the iPad that they refused to kill and refuses to die...for better or for worseiPad 2, the tablet they sold for years for only "$400" because people loved buying it still.

Thank god for those sorority girls and their incessant need for every emoji under the sun, including the sun itself to let you know via Instagram that they've made it to Cancun.Apple released the first major update to iOS 9 two weeks ago with iOS 9.1, which featured a slew of brand-new emojis. Since that update, iOS 9 adoption has grown by 5 percent.
HAHA! You have obviously forgotten the rollout of 8.0 and especially 8.0.1.because 9.0 was a train wreck.

It was so bad it hurt the adoption of iOS 8 as people waited for iOS 9 instead and it forced Apple to apologize for bricking peoples iPhones.
It'll be smaller come May.That "Earlier" number keeps getting bigger and bigger each time.
Jailbreak
Worked with my colleague 's iPad 2 running iOS 9.1 yesterday, and using iPad mini for work everyday, I call that BS.Still on 8 here. after experience massive slowdown with a previous iPhone with updates, will not be upgrading. Apple only optimizes updates for the latest phone 6s/6s + (which have 2gb ram), the rest on 1gb or less. Every update will only slow from here on out on the 1gb and less phones.
my parents iPad takes 5-10 seconds to open apps.
Not all the people outside of this forum are completely idiots.....I disagree. For all of us who keep up with these things, performance updates are obviously more important. But I think there are plenty of people out there who would respond like this:
Macrumors user: "iOS 9.1 is out! You should update your phone."
Person: "Cool."
Macrumors user: "It has new emoji..."
Person: "I'LL UPDATE WHEN I GET HOME!!!"
I think the emoji incentivize the update for those iOS users who couldn't really care less about, let alone know about, the new tweaks and options available in iOS updates.
I can't see a single reason to mess with my iPhone 's security with a JB....Jailbreak is not the answer. Not everything should be done because Jailbreak. Just like Android users that say root is you answer. Screw all that. The normal everyday consumer doesn't mess with that crap. You are the very small minority.

This. I'm surprised how many people on this forum forget that average users generally won't be showing off bug fixes and performance improvements. But new emojis? Certainly. It's viral. I got several people to update by sending them middle finger emojis and telling them they would see it only after they update.
Do you think the average person would care otherwise?
You left the fifth type :It was like 50% after only one week, 60% after like two weeks, and now only 66% ?
