That's only if the app stores its data on iCloud. Many of them still don't.
All apps data is backed up to iCloud backups. Even if developers does not use iCloud, still you should be able to restore all app content from iCloud or this new iOS 9 upgrade feature.

Nope. It doesn't. It works just like a "Restore from iCloud" backup... redownloads all your apps but you have to log in again fresh, no saved games, etc.

I doubt that. Any data saved to the Keychain would be saved, because app data in the Keychain stays resident on the device even after an app is deleted. But if you have apps that save data outside the Keychain, sure, that data would be wiped. But apps really shouldn't be storing user data that way.

Wow. I haven't heard that argument since the latest 1990s. Not that I, in principle, disagree with you but our side lost the war over a decade ago.

I know. :) I think the argument is growing some teeth again now that more elborate video ads are become more prevalent.

I'm excited to see content filtering. I assume it's like a better pop up blocker. Ios handles things really badly right now. I hate auto app store loading with a passion. The other is full screen pop over ads with non uniform close buttons. I'm hoping apple manages to just get rid of that stuff. Even osx manages it better.

So we would go back to a time when people's privacy was respected and people weren't treated like a product. How is this bad?
So not having those services or paying some monthly subscription fee for things that we use for free would be a better option?

Lots will cry if their dreams of ad-blocking on mobile go away.

Remember, ads make the web work. That's why places like Mac Rumors, Reddit, Google, Facebook, and all of your favorite sites exist. We don't want no ads, we just want the to not be right in our faces. Google is doing a lot to help with this (since they exist because of ads). They're dropping sites in their own rankings when they're placing ads in crummy places and ruining the user experience. Google only allows a max of 3 ads per page and limits them in other ways too. The sites you see that are stuffed full are generally not using the Google ad network which is the most common on the web.

Um, yes I want no ads and yes I know it would mean some sites would change.
Does Reddit have ads?

Hows the battery life on Beta 2? I heard horrible reports for beta 1 draining pretty quickly.

Is the battery drains issue on beta 1 already fixed?
The only real thing you can do to get an actual answer to a question like that is to check on it all a few days from now when people will actually have some resemblance of a meaningful take on battery life from an update that's only been out for a few hours so far.

The ability to have the "vibrate" switch on the side to function as Mute or Orientation Lock has apparently been removed.

Either that or you can take the word of people who are probably using their iDevices way more than usual to look for bugs, and are draining the battery more in that process ;)

I had a feeling that was some oversight that made it available on the iPhones when it should only apply to iPads (and maybe iPod Touches) as it did before.

OMG they used my Hand Off screen shot! That actually made my day a bit :D!

I am really happy they brought the hand off in multitasking back.

Forgive a dumb question on hand off and multitasking. I don't recall previously that having Chrome opened on Macbook, then jumping on to iPad/multitasking, that hand off would then open my Macbook Chrome session in Safari on iPad. Has it always been that way? I don't use hand off very often, so I might have missed this before.

I don't think it works with chrome. But you could do that with Safari.

I'm assuming you're okay with losing vast amount of webpages in a short period of time?

It's my computer and my internet connection. I should have the power to decide which packets from a website are accepted and which are rejected when I request the website.

Ads are a nuisance that ruin good content and wast valuable bandwidth resources on both ends of the connection. Just because today most websites rely on ad revenue doesn't mean it should forever be this way and the consumer shouldn't have any way to mitigate those negatives immediately.

Then stop going to websites that rely on ads.

Yes, it is. Content blocking gives power back to the users and brings forth change. Website owners should think more carefully about the rubbish they load from external sources and be more considerate of their users' privacy. MacRumors already loads at least 6 trackers, among which several from Google. Screw Google and others, I don't want to be tracked along all the websites I visit. I don't care about seeing ads, but my privacy is not up for sale and not theirs to take. It used to be different when these extensive tracking schemes were not mainstream. Websites survived that too.

Do you even know how Google works?

Um, yes I want no ads and yes I know it would mean some sites would change.

By change, you mean disappear... right? :\

I got the Downcast app and have never touched the podcast app since. Sooo much better.

Although, I've tried Downcast... Been a Pocket Cast user for awhile now.

Only compelling thing stock Podcast have is the ability to use Siri for requesting a particular show.

Do you even know how Google works?

I see what you are getting at, but it's not relevant (and I do understand how Google's advertisement schemes work). What matters is that Google, or any other advertiser for that matter, collects identifiable information about me and stores it on their servers, using it in various ways to lure third-party advertisers who in turn can pay sites like MacRumors for placing their ads. They have no right to collect all that information about me without my consent, just because they happen to be tied into many websites and are the advertisement platforms of choice. If a website wants to show me ads, that is fine. But then they have to do it in such a way that it won't violate my privacy by being tracked on hundreds of websites that I visit each day. Only with sufficient opposition will that ever change and I am not going to wait that long.

So, this might not be new to beta 2, but does Siri have some sort of a "visualizer" for music?

The pattern is slow, but that's just my lock screen wallpaper (a photo of my fiancé and I) with the Siri overlay. After Siri finished talking and the music started playing, the lines at the bottom (siri's "voice" indicator) fade into the background and start changing.
