Nonsense. if they are enable to run in the background, they will use resources. Having said that, closing them is completely unnecessary as the system manages what is running and will suspend apps when it runs out of memory or resources. The only time you should ever need to close anything is if you have given something permission to run-in the background and no longer want it to.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Apps will still run with background refresh even if you dismiss from the recent app switcher.

I know how multitasking works on iOS ok, you also forgot that some apps do use resouces in the background since iOS 7, so if i want an app to update itself in the background while i'm using it and other apps, a will just leave it there, but if i don't want to use it anymore, in order to have a better battery life, for ex; i should close it (so i don't need to toggle the app to never update content in the background), or, if i want to browse on safari and i'll have some tabs opened and i don't want safari to reaload 'em every time i switch tabs, i should close some apps, because even though ios do kill apps in the background to have more memory available, it does't always do it, so i still may need to do it manually

This isn't how it works.

If there's an app state that's stored, as you said, then it is using at least some resources. Whether it's storage or RAM it doesn't matter, still using resources and there should still be an easy way to close them all.

Maybe that'll be one of the Force Touch special features; Force Touch the app switcher screen and select "Close All".

You have no idea what you're talking about.

It may not technically but in a practical sense he's right. Even reducing the amount of widgets in the notification center frees up available memory for backgrounding. It may be a bug but that's what iOS 8 is doing. On a 6 Plus the camera app will crash on startup if there are too many notification center widgets running. It should kill those in favor of the camera app but it doesn't.

Not sure this has been mentioned but you can disable the lowercase keyboard if you hate it in Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard > Show Lowercase Keys toggle switch

I recommend you stay with it for a few days before you decide. I would like a switch to turn back on the pop up keys that show up when you tap on a letter/number. I've always hated not having that on certain Android keyboards.

You're contradicting yourself.

Resources are released, apart from those resources that aren't released, like location services or audio or several other resources.

So his point stands. It would, indeed, be handy to be able to kill all apps, not least for freeing up memory.
but the point is you don't get any benefit from freeing up the memory - forget about the memory, it wont make anything run any better - anything in the foreground gets priority if it needs memory it gets it and nothing else open stops that happening, so its irrelevant if you close apps are not - it makes no different to performance.

Your point about wanting to close multiple apps using location services has more merit, but I cant say i've ever used more than one that uses GPS at once anyway, all the other apps which use location services share the same location resources which the phone accesses anyway - and again, why would you have more than one audio app open at once?

But wait, your example wouldn't work for Safari, if you had a button which "closes all apps" it'd also close Safari which means your tabs would reload. Or are we now saying "close all apps apart form the one i've got open?" then someone is going to come along and go "I want the one i've got open to close as well and not need another a swipe to" and suddenly its such an insignificant first world problem which would only confuse the end use (that they need to close apps when generally they don't) that its really not something that should be added.

Too bad can't add RSS feeds to News app.

And how come MR is not on it yet??? BGR is.
In Safari tap the Share Sheet icon then Add to News. Yes, it's buried in another app. Also, seems to only work on certain sites. Shows up on Macrumors, doesn't show up on iMore. It also doesn't seem to work yet. It showed Macrumors for a second then disappeared. I can't find it in any section now.

If you feel the need to close apps multiple times a day to end up with few percentage points more battery charge at the end of the day, go ahead. Have you actually gone to Setting > General > Usage > Battery Usage and added up the battery use percentages which are incurred by app background activity (those apps which have a label 'Background Activity' or 'Background Location', though that must be the combined battery usage of foreground and background activity, ie, it overestimates the actual background activity battery usage)? And if you have an app or two that uses more than a few percentage points of battery usage with background activity the latter of which you think you can do without, then closing these one or two apps manually when you are done with them and don't want to keep running in the background (but do want to keep them running in the background sometimes and thus don't want to completely block their background activity ) should achieve your goal easily with the current arrangements.

or, if i want to browse on safari and i'll have some tabs opened and i don't want safari to reaload 'em every time i switch tabs, i should close some apps, because even though ios do kill apps in the background to have more memory available, it does't always do it, so i still may need to do it manually
If you have used a couple of apps and then go to Safari and open multiple tabs, as long as you stay in Safari, the OS will first clear the memory used by all other apps (some system apps/processes have wired memory that can't be wiped) before it clears any memory used by Safari tabs. Only in the following scenario is there a benefit of closing apps:
  1. You start Safari, open a few tabs,
  2. you then go to app B and use it a while,
  3. then you go to app C and use it.
In this scenario, if you kill app B before you launch app C, you might prevent that app A uses the memory of Safari.

iOS 9: You can now upload a gif in Safari. Before iOS 9 you could save a gif to your camera roll and use it in Messages but you couldn't upload it to a website - it would only upload a PNG preview.

The issue at the end of the day is that Fox is demonstrably, provably the worst of them all. There have been scads of studies which track the number of things said per hour, per day, per time block (usually the prime ratings hours), etc. wherein each item is fact checked. Fox is the worst at truthiness by orders of magnitude.
Fox News is the most-watched news network here in the US. I will not dispute that.

What Fox News doesn't realize is that my friends and I get together over drinks at least once a week and get our jollies watching those idiots make bigger idiots of themselves. My consultants and friends often share "Fox-isms". I know of no-one in my circles who actually take Fox News seriously - keep in mind that a lot of my work is in rural WA, OR, and ID, and even the rednecks I know "get it".

I hope Fox News stays around a long, long time - the entertainment factor is just too high there! :p

I'm sure they love that. More eyeballs means more revenue.

I love seeing the character preview bubble above each tapped character on the keyboard and I hated that its no longer there in the public beta. However, it is an option in Settings > General > Keyboard > Character Preview switch

I've not had any problems on my iPad Air 2 and I use iBooks daily. What device are you having problems with? Have you tried a power reset after beta 3 install?
I have the problem on my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6 plus. I tried multiple power resets on both devices. iBooks on my Mac and an iPad running 8.4 don't have any issues.

Having been pointed out how stupid a question was can be painful. I hope you get over it.

Not at all, only in your warped perception would you assume you caused me harm rather than acknowledge your rudeness. You simply announced yourself to be a %^@*$R( unworthy of my time. Only a %^@*$R( would label any technical question stupid. Thanks for confirming it and validating my assessment of your personality defect so I know to add you to my ignore list.
