I will believe it when I see it. Namely because product managers, sales people, executives ect. care more about new features than fixing bugs. They will demand the ONE MORE THING over bug fixes.

Why? My 16GB iPhone 5S, 2x 16GB iPad Air, and 3x 16GB iPad Minis are doing just fine.

Its like saying 'I can't believe my rMBP only came with 500GB SSD' when most computers come with multi TB drives.

Its almost as if the consumer can make an educated decision on what device they want to purchase for their needs.

Eek! Personal choice and accountability! Jk... I agree. I have no problem with people saying they want larger storage sizes, but when they say that writing more efficient and streamlined software is a waste of time, I cringe.

Long over due, they should have done this with iOS 8 first. They kept rushing out features without fixing past issues all the while introducing new issues.

There is still no native split-screen multitasking on Android. If Apple introduces split-screen multitasking in iOS 9, nearly all iPhone/iPad users would get their hands on it.

It's great you think Android in 2012 was good, because Jellybean is what nearly half of Android users are stuck with now.

Never said Android was good... just said that they've had features that Apple is implementing many years later.

Also Google "Samsung Multi-Window"... yes they do have one on Galaxy devices.

Give us multiple accounts on one device. I hate that on our iPad its a land-grab. My wife has the Facebook app login, I'm the one that's logged into LinkedIn, iMessage, and FaceTime, etc. Profiles/user accounts would be great for iPad. We're not going to buy another iPad so that each of us can have a customized experience so its not like Apple is going to lose money on us.

It works on my six, but is no faster than typing a PIN. I guess it's supposed to be more secure or something, because nobody's ever seen the TV shows / movies where someone's finger / eye is removed to use for biometric access.

Nonsense. It's much faster than typing a PIN.

Option 1: You have to press the home button or unlock/power button, swipe to unlock, and enter your PIN, tapping out at least 4 digits.

Or Option 2: You short press the home button and wait less than a second. You don't even need two hands.

That would help iPad 2, iPad 3, iPhone 4S, and iPad mini users. Fingers crossed!

I dunno, if Apple follows in the steps of Snow Leopard I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped older devices just like they dropped PowerPC support.

Sounds good to me. Could you please do the same with OS X, Apple? We could do with a “Snow Yosemite”.

About time they started working on stability and optimization. The last STABLE iOS release was 6.1.4, which is why I am still on it. No iOS 7/8 user can say they are able to get 10-12 hours active usage on their phone. NONE.

You obviously haven't used a 6 Plus ;)

In all seriousness though, I do agree. The battery life on the 6 Plus is amazing, but the software (by and large) is horrible. iOS 8 has to be one of the buggiest releases of iOS ever.

I found the last version of iOS 7 to be very stable on my iPhone 5. If they could get back to those levels of stability I'd be happy.

But then Phil "upsell" Schiller will have nothing to upsell you to. And Cook won't be able to report record iPhone ASPs. I think it's ridiculous. There was rumor that 32GB was coming this year but I'm doubtful. It's easier for Apple to tinker at the high end because margins are bigger.

But Apple is a business, not a charity. So it's in their best interest to make a profit. Yes it would be nice if there was a larger capacity for less money, but that's not going to get people to buy the 64gb option.

Same thing goes for cars. Most base trims don't include GPS/heated seats etc. It would be awesome if the cheapest one had everything you wanted but that's not reality.

The fact that the biggest feature in a new release is that it actually works is embarrassing.

What isn't working now? I know, you are going to point out some bug or bugs. But name me a single mobile OS that is free of bugs.
There is a big difference between saying something is not as optimized as it could be and not working...

Hope this means they'll still support iPad 2/iPhone 4S

But they most likely won't :(

In all honesty, they still might. If as this rumors predicts and iOS 9 is mainly focused on stability and optimization improvements, then iOS 9 could be the Windows 7 on the iOS platform. What I mean by this is that the like in the Windows platform, the hardware requirements for Windows 7 was lower than that of Vista; we might see the same thing happen here if this rumor is true, so iOS9 may well support the 4S.

I hope Safari gets a major overhaul and iOS 9 will be optimized to run on the iPad 2/3 for a smooth experience. Not asking for much. :apple:

So if they focus on features and not quality thats bad? But if they focus on quality and not features, thats also bad?

What do you demand then?

I believe most people desire the latter, included. Just look at the Snow Leopard appreciation club in the thread.

Samsung's touchwiz isn't native, which was what was said.

This sounds awesome !

Snow Leopard was an awesome release.

and This improvement seems like exactly what iOS needs right now.

I wonder will users iOS 7 users be able to upgrade to iOS 9 directly?

Boring but necessary. Perhaps the hardware will makeup for the lack of new features in the software. And when I say lack of new features I mean lack of 200 new features, of course there will be new features

Awesome news! Now please Apple, move the recents in multitasking where it really belongs: a Phone app widget and give me mobile data toggle for CC. Thanks.

why does there suddenly need to be such a steep step? the first iphones and ipads didnt have 2, 8 and 16 or 4, 8, 32.

people will get the bigger version because its a) something they need and b) its more value for you money. trying to handicap the entry model is a lowball move

For the love of god yes, please fix that damn screen rotation issue!

It's utterly ridiculous that it takes a completely new iOS revision to fix this though.
