This is SO needed! iOS 8 has been a HUGE headache for Apple in regards to stability. iOS 8 on the 6 Plus still needs a ton of work to do to improve the overall stability of the device. Forget new features. Fix the BUGS! I want to go back to saying, "It just works!"

Every iOS release should be stable, this is what apple prides itself on. We are entering Windows territory here..... so every second/third release we will get a one that is stable?

But Apple is a business, not a charity. So it's in their best interest to make a profit. Yes it would be nice if there was a larger capacity for less money, but that's not going to get people to buy the 64gb option.

Same thing goes for cars. Most base trims don't include GPS/heated seats etc. It would be awesome if the cheapest one had everything you wanted but that's not reality.

Considering Apple's profit last quarter was the largest in the history of public corporations I don't think making a profit is something they have to worry about. They can afford to make most of their software free so certainly they could afford to up storage at the low end.

it's full of ***** whiners in here, get a life people

PS. iOS 8.1.3 works great on my 5S

Gees..... may actually not be forced by Apples rubbish software to scrap the iPad 3 just yet then....

It should NOT take them 2 to 3 years to fix their flaws. They should have done this in iOS 7.5! It's even more pathetic when you consider the resources and HUGE profits people on here go on about they have.

Apple literally have no excuse for poor iOS releases as they make and control it entirely themselves.

I also have an iPad 3 but i'm not holding my breath that iOS 9 will work better on it. I am hopeful that iOS 9 will run smoother on my 6 Plus though.

Cue all the tech websites complaining about Apple becoming stale with the lack of new features.

I don't care, this is some wonderful news.

This news is extremely welcome. At this point, I imagine that the iOS codebase is creaking heavily under its own complexity, and so I imagine they may be looking at doing some serious code refactoring in order to cut down the bloat and/or cutting down some of the Technical Debt which may have accumulated as new features have been rushed in to the OS.

I feel that the same exercise needs to be carried out on OS X as well.

This! Mavericks is incredibly stable and runs silky smooth. Plus with the addition of compressed memory, it really is one of the largest leaps in OS X's history since Panther>Tiger, IMHO. I haven't upgraded to Yosemite yet, and seeing all the bugs that my friends/colleagues are encountering, I don't think I'll make the Yosemite upgrade for quite some time.

It lost lots of productivity things like quicktime in 'quick look'

I downgraded from Yosemite but all the way to Mountain Lion. The only thing I wish I could have is the menu on dual monitors.

Give us multiple accounts on one device. I hate that on our iPad its a land-grab. My wife has the Facebook app login, I'm the one that's logged into LinkedIn, iMessage, and FaceTime, etc. Profiles/user accounts would be great for iPad. We're not going to buy another iPad so that each of us can have a customized experience so its not like Apple is going to lose money on us.

those b@5t@rd sales & marketing Careerists are target driven - they want you to buy two

Thats a point release feature....

Please :apple: can we have a customisable home screen with live tiles?

the grid icon setup is getting a tad boring now.

And how about a close all Apps option.... doing this swipe one at a time sucks.

Will be easy to sell performance and optimization when the 6s will have double the RAM ;)

I have literally zero problems with this! I have been hoping for a while that iOS 9 would be that kind of update to fix the last three years of stability and bug problems brought on by iOS 6-8, iOS has all the features that I need already, stability and performance enhancements is what it has been lacking
