iFile, themes, removing Safari limitations like downloading, removing attachment limitations on email, redefining default apps from email, attachment handling, one touch task close, removing not used Apple apps, alternative backup options, improve security, modify Control Panel, etc ....

There are a lot of options and most are personal in need or want.
Personally I usually jb my iPad but not my phone (it's a work device).
I will jb older devices to extend the usefulness of the device.
I don't jailbreak to pirate or mimic Android functionality (I use a Note 5) rather to allow me to use the device how I like in a manner I like. More like a tablet type netbook - home use.

Having Apple, Samsung, Sony. Verizon. AT&T, etc. tell you what OS or software you can run on hardware YOU paid for is just crazy. It's a computer. How many of us would tolerate Apple locking the bootloader on a Mac and telling us we can't run another OS on our own bare metal? We wouldn't tolerate it from Dell, HP, etc.

So why do you tolerate it on a phone.
I'm an Apple share holder but I will not buy an iPhone because I want my bootloader unlocked if I like and administrative (root/jailbreak) access to my hardware. On a Mac I can be system administrator.

I hear you loud and clear. I put my money where my mouth was and went from an iphone 4 to GS4 google play edition(unlockable bootloader, non carrier phone), now going back with a 6S. IMO jailbroken iOS is the best of both worlds. The chinese having been breaking iOS like clockwork, gone are the days of 6+ months of waiting for a jailbreak. I don't care so much for the unlocked bootloader, I just want root (admin access).

I dont understand the double standard between mobile devices and PC's either, it drives me crazy.

My main complaint about iOS (aside from having to use hacks to gain admin access - which I can deal with due to the steamrolling chinese) is that iOS cannot be downgraded.

That's pretty stupid. In Apple's case, people are buying hardware married to the software. It's been tested for compatibility and security. The last thing they want for some schmuk to go around and mess up their carefully engineered product.

Are there any apps/fixs for jailbroken devices to improve performance of iOS 9 on older devices ?, afraid to update my iPad 2 until now

Why jailbreak? Because I can.
Why not jailbreak. Because I don't want to.

It's called CHOICE people. No need to debate it for 10 pages. Pick one and be done.

Carefully engineered but not quite finished current product with software that will still run (for the most part) on legacy devices we originally carefully almost engineered to just work. o_O

More like a carefully engineered piece of hardware that will be linked to software still under development that is only applicable for at most 12 months.

lol

the chinese are unstoppable!

appel should just quit this nonsense and let everyone run their devices any way they want.
They weren't thinking this in 1964 when they got on their knees and begged the U.S and Europe for help or they would start a war, that both would have stopped them forever.

I may jailbreak my phone again for one simple tweak. All I want is for my calendar events and reminders to show up persistently on the lock screen. What's the point in hiding that stuff in the Notification Center? If I remember to look in there then chances are I'll remember I have something I need to do. I feel like the lock screen is wasted space 90% of the time.

Now your able to side load applications ( via Xcode) in iOS9, I don't see much value in jail breaking these days.
Cmd line utilities like Clutch are deb files and unless they release it as an archive you will need to JB. If you are a pen-tester you will need root. Is there something unique with iOS 9 that doesn't require root?

It would be great if clutch, csu, flexIBLE etc were all installable without root.

Please let me know if you have installed clutch etc without JB your device :)

I used to jb for quick toggle, multitask, wallpaper, cellular network switch. Now however I don't see the point especially on my main device.

I'd be happy with just having some more icons on the dock. Sigh, every day that I look at that fisher price toy dock bar I get depressed that I bought the best Apple has to offer. IPhone 6s plus with all that room, yet it continues to be just a blown up iPhone, offering zero functionality over it's smaller brother. I'm almost tempted to say I miss Samsung, but I don't, but at least they made a phablet with phablet functionality.

Yes, because the Chinese government can't wait to gain the invaluable knowledge of your diaper fetish and Cheetos purchases.

You people crack me up.

You have no idea what they're capable of doing with that information. The diaper fetish data, in particular.

So did anyone one $1 million reward? I'm curious to know if this jailbreak qualifies for the bounty Zerodium had..
