iOS League - 2011 MR NFL Fantasy Football

The iOS league is the continuation of our MR league from last year. Therefore it still shows players on rosters and stuff like that from the previous year. No worries though, it's not a keeper league so when we draft all players will be available.

No worries Jaffa. I think it's for the best though as by the early smack talk from einmusiker it's better he move over here to the iOS league. I don't think he can handle the big boys over there in the OSX league and we don't want to hurt his "wittle feelin's" now do we. ;)

Named my team the "Perpetual Motion Squad"

I think the time is okay for me, although a bit earlier would make things easier for me. If not, I'll try my best to be available for the draft.
 
Still need nobunaga209 and rhett7660 to join up in the league for things to be complete. Let me know if you didn't get an invite by email.

I'm moving the draft time back to 7:30 PM (US Central) to better accommodate those worried about it going too long.

Hooray, everyone has joined up meaning our draft time is locked in. Allright, the draft is set for this Sunday August 21st at 7:30PM Central Standard Time. Please be sure to sign in a few minutes early and if you know you can't be there then please set the auto draft order for yourself so the computer will try to get players that you have at least preselected.

The draft order is:

7. Dandaman

Okay, I need a little help with something. I think I've got everybody's teams figured out, but I'm not sure about iVeBeenDrinkin' and munkees.

One of you is the USA Killers and on of you is the Cupertino Apples, but I don't know who is who. If you guys can clear this up for me then I can finalize the divisions appropriately.
 
After talking it over with the team investors and large fan base, I have decided the decision to move the team from Berlin to Greenville was ill-advised and will promptly be reversed.

The Greenville Marmots are no more.

Sorry bout that... I was wondering why it was still showing last years results. Thought MS was playing with me and rubbing it in. I am in. My only question, is do we think the draft is to early, since the second game hasn't been played by all the teams, the fantasy ratings are not completely done yet? I am in either way, I am just throwing this out there. I knew a lot of the guys I am looking at, aside from the regulars are still not showing up on the fantasy lists due to the shortened preseason etc.

Rhett7660, we are having it today because too many people were unavailable next weekend, including myself. We can't do it on a week night because people's schedules are just too busy during the week.

Most free agency stuff has settled down by now. There are a few injury questions, but for the most part things are settled. And, in truth no matter when we have it there will always be questions. Coaches and teams don't exactly tell the truth about everything going on with there players so to an extent it's always guess work.

^ I'm actually managing 4 leagues this year, so that's four total drafts, but only two of them are today.

- 2 MR leagues
- A family league - this one gets really nasty :D
- A league with guys from my church - doing a live draft this year, should be fun.

What can I say, I like Fantasy Football. :)

Okay, munkees and iVeBeenDrinkin' are being a little obstinate about responding to my request for information and it's starting to tick me off. Remember if the commish ain't happy, then no one's happy. ;)

So, it looks like the team that was named USA Killers has been changed to Wildcat Killers and that is similar to the email address that one of them provided. Therefore, based on this detective work I'm concluding that:

Team Wildcat Killers is munkees... and... Team Cupertino Apples is iVeBeenDrinkin'

The draft order has been set based on this conclusion. If I'm wrong then I'm sorry, but neither of you boneheads would answer the question. :(

Out of 4 leagues last year I was in 3 championship games and won two of them. That's a pretty good record, I think. I didn't make it to the championship in the MR league, something I plan to rectify this year. :D
 
Okay folks, draft is over. We had 9 of 12 show up which I think is pretty good. So, let the season begin.

Just FYI, the divisions and schedules have to be finalized for the league, so what you see on the ESPN site now is not accurate.

Here's what they say about mine:

Your receivers are the strongest part of this team. While no team can be expected to be above average at all three core positions (QB/RB/WR), you are in the precarious position of being a bit weak at two of them.

Although you should not be counted out yet, you may need to be active on both the waiver wire and in trades to turn this team into a legitimate contender. The best way to achieve that might be to sacrifice some of your wide receiver strength to gain multiple players than can help your roster now. It's generally easier finding quarterbacks and wide receivers on the waiver wire than quality running backs.

Keep an eye out for quarterbacks like Michael Vick and Josh Freeman last year, Brett Favre in 2009, Matt Cassel and Kurt Warner in 2008, and Derek Anderson in 2007. All were available cheap in August, and all contributed to fantasy championship teams. Likewise, running backs like Peyton Hillis, LeGarrette Blount, and Mike Tolbert all could be had dirt cheap at the draft or shortly after. You are likely going to need to land some of this year's top waiver plays, so pay close attention to increased workloads, targets, injuries, etc.

Players we particularly like on this team include Hakeem Nicks and Mark Sanchez. We have both these guys ranked ahead of where they are typically being drafted.
Bottom line:

* With great inseason management, we think you have about a 55 percent chance of making the playoffs.
* With good inseason management, we think you have about a 40 percent chance of making the playoffs.
* With average inseason management, we think you have a 19 percent chance of making the playof
