Are you sure about that? I'd google iPhone delivery reports and see how many results it throws up :) its not as if it's an OS crippler, it's a tiny piece of code that does exactly what it's supposed to. Let's us know when our SMS has been delivered :)

It wouldn't be used by a large portion of their user base because most global carriers don't support it.

Ah I see :) I DEFINATELY miss it and don't want to JB to get this. I'm fussy and don't like mucking about too much with my original setup.

1. More comprehensive iCal.app w/a robust task manager incorporated. I'm a busy person, and use a 3rd party app to fill this need. However, would be great to have this capability on iCal with complete integration throughout my iOS & Mac OS X devices. The current version of iCal is so basic it hurts. Apple really needs to address this, and not use some cheap "reminders" app coming with iOS 5.

2. Quick glance (widget if you will) of upcoming appointments, birthdays, tasks, etc. (customizable) without opening an app. I know this should be coming with iOS 5...but I don't have it now...so I'm including it here (plus I don't know how customizable it will be). I loved how my old WM6.5 phones could show all upcoming events on the main screen (I could even complete tasks from the main screen).

That's it.

Some carriers don't support SMS delivery reports. I know that Verizon, T-Mobile USA, and AT&T don't.

your delivery report is the fact that the message went through... the network isn't designed to give you those reports AFAIK. i've never heard of them either.

Just because you sent it, doesn't mean the recipient received it.

My Samsung u740 (Alias) on VZW had a basic delivery reporting system. There was a box in the upper right hand corner of each SMS. Was a red X if it there was an error sending; a (i believe) blue arrow indicating the message was sent; and (again, I believe the color was) green check mark to show delivery.

Granted, it was somewhat like iMessage in that it only worked when sending to another VZW handset. Sending to another carrier limited the status' to either the red X or the arrow, no delivery confirmation.

My Storm (and Verizon phones that friends/family had) also did this. So not sure where the statement that Verizon doesn't support delivery reports comes from..

My 3 Main Features I miss:

1: SMS Delivery Reports

You can get Delivery Reports on SMS without Jailbreaking, but I think it depends on your network.

I am on O2 (UK) and Simply type *0#[Then Message].
O2 then strips out the '*0#', and sends you a message when the person has received it.

The thing you put in front of the text, eg. *0#, is different on each network - so Google it for the one you are on. :)

A password protected email app. I don't like the idea that anyone who touches my phone can read my email. Yes, I have my whole phone password protected, but this is not enough.

I've googled it and even called my network provider without any luck.

3 say Delivery Reports aren't available on this handset but WE KNOW it works because the JB delivery report app works a treat.

Yes I like the idea of being able to pick apps/folders for password protection rather than the whole phone

Camera app is very basic, needs Timer, etc..
Can't delete photos from Photo Library
Can't view the EXIF information in photos
No integrated SIP support
Can't natively play DivX/XviD/MKV

What network are you on?

If you are on O2 - Ireland, then it think the code is *R*.

Orange (and i think 3 do now) in the UK charge 1p for each delivery report
The report in iMessage is to show that they have read the message not just received it

a change to appstore that I think most will appreciate...

a BUY NOW button for new app and a REDOWNLOAD button for already purchased app...

as of right now, you will not know which app you bought and which you did not (for ppl with short memory like me)... and sometimes you thought you already bought it and you clicked BUY NOW only to find out you just bought an app...

iOS 5 has sorted this :D

Also why do you think these were never integrated in the first place?
Same answer for any product out there: development resources are finite. Products are always a compromise of the feature set, price point and development timeframe.

Video calling. I am not talking about FaceTime( which i love and use a lot ). But... I used video call in like 2007(or sometime around that) with my Nokia n73 over 3G. This enabled me to video call anyone anytime(who had a 3G phone). My provider even had 1 year of this for FREE. And i yet can't do this with my iPhone 4. (imagine my face when Steve tried to pull this as something new or exciting when introducing the iP4)

I think Apple is considering the American market too much.

Regarding bluetooth filesharing, i think it has to do with the design of the iOS being file system free. This is the main reason i think we cant have "full bluetooth".

I really miss the old days of Bluetooth transfers. Remember when "dumb" phones could transfer ringtones, songs, or pictures over Bluetooth?

Sadly, don't think iPhone will ever get that cozy with Bluetooth. :(

I have my phone on AT&T, and I get a delivery report, it says "Message Successfully sent to Soandso"

It's a Pantech Matrix so I don't know if it's different for Smart Phones.
