"Within less than a year" is a little redundant. Again, as others have said, sheer availability of Android on multiple devices vs. iOS on one device makes this a no brainer. Next you'll tell me that Widows machines in offices are more prevalent than OS X or that more people buy Big Macs than local Alaskan King Crab.

The article also doesn't take into account the amount of Android devices that end up in the drawer after one year of usage. I mean, many iOS devices are being sold actively on the 2nd hand market. This implies that the device finds a new owner and continues to be actively used (i.e. new user for the App Store). I don't see this at all with Android phones: they're already becoming a disposable product like my dads Nokia...

Honestly, there isn't a single Android device that I would trade my iPhone 4 against.

HTC, Samsung (yuck) etc. They aren't even trying to go the extra mile and create something truly wonderful. They're just trying to throw out crap after crap, hoping that something sticks at the wall. I don't know why people were all waiting for the next Windows mobile iteration cause I think we've already seen it the last couple of years in the form of Android.

I actually disagree with this statement. HTC is coming out with some very nice phones with Android's Froyo platform that are quite nice. I've been on the cusp of dumping my iPhone 4 for an Android phone on the belief that when you have multiple device makers and Google's muscle behind Android the potential for more rapid innovation and competition is much higher for Android than it is for the Iphone and Apple.

Frankly, after two years of playing the iPhone upgrade game and waiting with bated breath to see which crumbs Lord Steve would allow his users to have I'm getting kinda tired of feeling like a pawn in his game. Plus, I could dump my iPhone 4 for $500+ today and get a solid Android device for the same amount.
