Screen sharing over wifi

I'm wondering if you will be able to screen share with iPad 2 like you can with the mac computer over wifi?? It would be great to have a way to do remote desktop. That would allow you to use your full apps and mac computer with the iPad. It would also be great to "air share" video as well as audio at once.

Different strategy than with iPhone

I was half-expecting Apple to keep the low-end iPad 1 around for another year for $100 less. The way they do with iPhone. Instead, they're just going to sell them off at the low price point.

I'm sure there's a Numbers spreadsheet somewhere in Cupertino showing exactly why that is the correct strategy for iPhone but not for iPad. Interesting.

There are a slew of VNC apps for iPad. The really good ones aren't free though.

Check out 'Air Video' app for sharing video - I think its $3.

Check out 'AudioGalaxy' for audio - free.

Crap, that is really going to bring down the resell value for us trying to sell them on eBay.

I should have sold it already. :(

Yep. But who knew when exactly will the new iPad 2 become available? If you actually use it, would you potentially want to be without it for who know how long? In any case, that's what stopped me from selling mine.

$350 is a pretty awesome price point. Absolutely excellent value.

This is also a brilliant way to really throttle the competition. Now you can get a genuine iPad for under $400, or a new model for the old price. Alternatively, you can pay MORE for an iPad wannabe.

How can anyone else possibly sell a competing tablet? Not on price - Apple's got you beat (unless you're a Kindle). Not on features (like a camera or faster processor). The only edge Motorola can claim is that their tablet 'runs Flash' - except it doesn't even do THAT yet.

And imagine - by the fall, THIS new model will probably be discounted, as well. Yikes. Don't stand in front of the steamroller.

I sold my iPad WiFi 32gb for $515 just a few days ago. Seems like I picked the perfect time. :D

Which makes me even more hesitant about buying an older product.

Based on the specs of the iPad 2, is it worth spending $150 more over a refurb iPad 1 ?
At the very least, that $150 buys you another year of updates from Apple and a brand new product. And if you plan to do any iMovie on iPad you need the second generation. We all know Apple starts to drop recently introduced features off their older models; just be ready for that come next year already. Assuming iOS5 comes out in June, there will likely be new features that only will run on the newer iPhones and iPads... or features that don't run as well. For that reason alone, I would pass on the first-gen.

I couldn't resist at $349 with free shipping! They hit my price point and my NC-10 screen is crapping out so I bit ASAP after I saw the price drop on my iphone. Gotta love the apple store app!

$350 for a refurb iPad is tempting. $250-$300 would have me sold.

Agreed. I'm on the edge with a ready credit card, and I'm only 5% of the way to my overall credit limit - I have the means. I just also have the will to resist an impulse purchase, but... it's an iPad.

Oh, the cruelty of it all. I so want one, but if only it were a tiny bit cheaper. Curse you, tempting Apple products!

I'm about to pull the trigger myself. Ahhh! :)

damn it, i was hoping to be able to sell my 1st gen and get the iPad 2, without spending more than £100, have to wait and see what happens when the clearance models are gone, if the price goes back up, you could buy a couple of iPads on clearance now, not open them, and sell them for a profit after, then buy an iPad 2...

You didn't see this coming ? The new iPad was obviously coming out (especially if you are a regular on this site) and the price was obviously going to drop.
Just like the iPhone - Sell a week before the release and you will sell for more than $100 more than if you wait till after the release.

My 1st gen works as well today as it did yesterday. I intend to keep using it for as long as it does the job. The ability to stream from iTunes was the biggest thing it lacked but I bridged that with Air Video but now there is official support so yay! For the money it is a good deal but if you really feel you must have the latest then the extra will get you another year or you could just stay ome gen behind the curve and save save save.

I don't regret buying my first gen. It has been great for the last six months and I use it a lot. 4.3 means it will be even better.

Full stop. UK electronics prices are horrible in general. Same price in GBP as in USD for many things even though the GBP trades for 1.6 USD.

You've got to remember to take VAT off as prices in the UK to consumers are always VAT inclusive.

So, 1st gen iPad 16GB Wifi is now £329 inc VAT, which is £274.17 ex VAT or $447

In the US it's $399 so only a $48 difference which is pretty low for Apple.
