Guess I take my chances and get up at 4am and order with the fastest shipment option ... if I am lucky I get it Saturday and can play with it all weekend, worst case I will get it early next week and waste a work day with toying with it ....
There are a lot of conspiracy theories, but it could be as simple as a staging issue. In order to make sure all stores have a stock of the product, they're planning for a uniform time of the day late enough that FedEx or UPS or whichever will have had a chance to deliver the product to the stores on launch day.
So stupid. They just want the media coverage.
There is no reason why you cant preorder for delivery Friday other than they learned their lesson from the Verizon iPhone 4 where if there arent lines, riots, and chaos, it will be considered a failed launch.
This is nonsense. eBay isn't limiting the sale of anything. People will be buying the iPad to resell.
That's right. I want a virgin.
can't we just ask them politely not to set it up for us for I'm not that stupid to set it up myself? I want to be the first one to touch my iPad![]()
Anyone know how FAST fast free shipping is? Maybe where they are shipping from for online orders? I can wait till early next week, but not late since I have to head out on a trip and already sold my 32GB wifi for 480$, need to replace it soon!
Way to go Apple - treating your Customers like trash to gin up headlines.
Historically, how many units do stores get? Any chance I might be able to waltz in Sunday and get one?
I don't understand their time zone logic.
What is the difference if they make it available at 1PM EST time one the east coast?
It's not like the west coast stock is going to deplete any faster.
Just offer to sell it 1PM in each respective time zone.
I believe I saw an article that says AT&T suggests to call them and have them transfer the IMEI number from the new iPad to your account. Otherwise, you may lose the true unlimited plan.
I heard BB won't have white models. Their web site doesn't show any, just the black (last time I looked, at least).
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)
I don't understand the 5pm launch time, though. So basically the stores will be open all day and people will be twiddling their thumbs, then 5 pm rolls around and they start selling them. Why not just have a "launch day" instead of a "launch time". I get the launch time for online orders, just doesn't make sense for retail.
Because by having a launch day, you create a launch time of midnight. Some stores will be willing to open at midnight -- 24 hour Walmarts, if nothing else. All the people who want one will be waiting in line there. Apple Stores can't be outdone, so they, too, need to open at midnight. At this point, everyone else might as well open at midnight or miss publicity and attention of the launch.
I personally prefer midnight, but 5pm probably works better for everyone else.
