Note:

I don't mind what people's personal opinions are.

Everyone is indeed entitled to have their own personal view on something.

We live in a free country (well we don't actually, but that's another argument!) and everyone is free to think and like the things they do.

The part that grates on me, and others, are people who have no capacity to hold onto any independent thought or opinion and just mimic what others say or do, or just assume that someone with more money than them must be right in everything, and hence must be defended.

If you don't think the iPad should have a reasonably half decent camera (say similar to an iPhone) then, by all means state your views loud and clear. But at least stick to your views when it does have a nice camera unit fitted.

If you think 1mp is correct and is all that's needed, and wish to shout loud to others, that this is indeed correct and you feel this is the right thing.
Then at least have the balls to stick to your opinion next year when a 3mp unit it fitted, and then the year after when a 5mp unit is fitted.

I will respect you for that.

I will not respect you, if every year you change your views to match whatever Apple have done.

As said, everyone is fully entitled to their opinion, but please let this be YOUR Opinion and not just a copy of someone else.

That said, if someone wishes to say "Yes, I admit it, Now I have something better, I can see I was wrong in what I said before, now I can see the benefit in this new thing" Then fair play, you are man enough to admit you were wrong.

Oh please.

I don't care about the iPad's cameras quality. I really don't. I only use them for FaceTime and for that they're fine. Does that mean I have to criticise Apple if/when next year they add better cameras? No. Next year I still won't care about the quality of the cameras. Does it mean I don't want a better quality camera? No, it means I don't care either way.

I also don't care about the gyroscope. I don't play a lot of games and I've never used it even on the iPhone. Does that mean I have to criticise apple because they added it to the iPad? No, I simply don't care and as long as something doesn't make the iPad more expensive for me or affect my usage of it I really don't care what they add.

I also don't use Bluetooth. Does that mean I need to criticise Apple for adding it to their devices? No. Once again, I don't care.

No one here is saying that it's a good thing Apple added poor quality cameras to the iPad. They simply don't mind because it doesn't affect how they use the iPad. If Apple adds better cameras it still won't affect how they use the iPad so why should they criticise Apple for it?

It's fine to say you don't care.

But what we have is not people saying "I don't care." We have people saying that others are wrong for wanting something better.
They are different things. One is not being bothered either way (as you have said, and that's fine.) It's another thing entirely to say Apple was correct in fitting a 1mp camera unit, and anyone who want's anything better it just plain wrong as that would be stupid on such a device.

:)

You're twisting what people are saying, you're saying the ones who are happy with the current camera should bitch and moan if/when the ipad gets a higher resolution camera, but me and others have not actually said this, we've said that the camera in the iPad is good for what it's for. we're not saying it should not have a higher one, we're just not bitching and moaning about something that's not hugely necessary. if it came with higher, great.

Yeah, I don't get taking pics with a notebook sized camera. I have a good camera to take pictures.

I would think the cameras they added were for facetime more than anything else.

I dont get it, whats not to get its for convenience just like a phone you may not have either with you. Let me give you an example, your on the couch using your iPad and kid does something cute. Rather than go find your SLR camera (lol) you snap a picture from your iPad.

Sorry for me, I really wanted to be able to take random picture that don't look like poop. That being said, I'll hold on to this till iPad3 comes out then I will just sell and upgrade

For some very odd reason, from what I've read and seen, the lower quality from facing camera can take nicer photo's than the rear facing camera.

Anyone else find this?

Or course, it's harder to photo something when your viewfinder (the screen) is facing in the same direction as the lens (front facing camera)

Also one other thing I was meaning to post some time ago and never got round to.

It almost seems like there are differences, manufacturing differences? in camera's.
I don't think this has been touched on yet, but I've seen a very wide variety of qualities in iPad video recording, from some that looks almost decent to other that looks downright horrid.
