Still looking for an iPad 2 for my wife in northern burbs. She prefers a 32g white wifi only. Possibly even 16, but not likely. Anyone have any help for me. I've watched my iPad for her go to the person in front of me 4 times now.

I have a new - still in plastic wrap - 32GB 3G (AT&T) black iPad 2. If anyone can meet this afternoon at or near Northbrook Court it is yours for $850...which is basically what I paid plus the $50 I spent getting the ticket. LMK if there are any takers.

Are the Apple stores still getting random shipments throughout the day, or is it worth it to go in the morning?
I'm going to be in Chicago next week and was hoping to buy one at the Michigan Ave. store.
(and no, I'm not bringing it back to resell in Russia, just one for personal use)
get there in the morning. the store pages off of apples website are saying "iPad 2 sales begin early at 9am". If you get to an apple store by about 7:30 you should get what you want, though if you want the more popular AT&T 3G models or 16gb wifi get there maybe at 7 or earlier
Thought I would report back on my experience. I got to the store around 6:15 am (due in part to the wonders of jet lag) on Friday (April 8) and was 4th in line. By 7:30am there were around 100 people in line and it wrapped around the store.
The first 15 of us all lived outside the U.S. (and I was the only American). None seemed to be scalpers, all lived in countries where the iPad hadn't been released yet (Brazil, Russia, India) or where it was much cheaper due to exchange rates to buy in the U.S. (Germany, UK, New Zeeland). For this reason everyone wanted either the wifi only models or the AT&T versions so they could swap out the sim cards.
Around 8:20 a couple of guys came out from the store and started hanging out tickets. They had a limited number of white 64gb AT&T iPads, much greater number of white 64 GB Verizon iPads, and a bunch of black 16gb wifi versions. Most of us took one, although a couple of people bought two. I wanted a black 64GB wifi model, took a white 64gb AT&T model and I'm very happy with it. By about the 10th person in line, the AT&T model was gone and several people from further back came up to make sure no one wanted to swap an AT&T for a Verizon model.
So, I didn't get exactly what I wanted, but overall I'm really happy. Now I just have to wait for my Portenzo case to be ready! 🙂
