LOL! I love your logic.

If Mac users are generally happier then why aren't there 9 macs sold for each PC? (Instead of the other way around).

The Apple cheerleading squad never ceases to give me a laugh. Now you've figured out how to measure "happiness"?

Because macs are significantly more expensive...

Why did you choose to ignore that... He even said Windows users are less happy even though they pay much less for more powerful computers.

There are not more sold because the average person doesn't understand that their happiness is worth the price difference to them.. Although the majority of people who do switch to Macs realize it certainly is and only wish they had done it sooner.

If Macs were cheaper than comparable PC hardware they would outsell pcs 9 to 1...

That is the situation we have in tablets right now. Apple has the superior experience and are selling it for less than the competition.

The Tegra 2 in the Xoom is more powerfull than the A5 in the ipad2 look it up if you don't believe me. ipad 2 has better GPU Xoom has better CPU and more ram so the Xoom wins.

Until you turn it on and start using it.

Apple kinda specializes in the stretch of time between turning the device on and putting it down once you're done. If this part isn't perfected, specs are worth about as much as a pair of thermal underwear in Death Valley at high noon.

Maybe in time Samsung, Motorola et al will learn this. So far, no dice.

You know, all the screen problems, etc and now they have to come up with this half baked benchmark to show how good a crappy product is, wew!

Get a grip, the iPad has seen its day, time to move on.

Who wants a third peice of electronic junk to carry around anyway?

Not I.

What value does this bring to the thread?

So basically, PowerVR beat out nVidia (who thought we'd see the day...). The Xoom is a Tegra 2 based SoC, so it uses nVidia's GPU and the A5 uses the PowerVR SGX543MP2.

You guys saying this is a iOS win over Android do realise that PowerVR does not have an exclusive with Apple here right ?

It took me like ten years to figure out I didn't need massive amounts of ram and quad-core cpus to check email and run web applications - I'd imagine everyone figures it out eventually.

My laptop is a mac, my desktop a pc. that won't change until affordable graphics on the mac become much more powerful. I love the mac os. I just wish we could stick a gtx460 into the box and play some games at reasonable quality.

If you love specs so much, then KNEEL BEFORE YOUR GOD! The iPad 2.

:)

gamers represent a relatively small percentage of the personal computer market, choosing a computer based on its ability to play a game seems like a waste to me, but that took me a long time to figure out as well.

Raw specs? Sure. Like a Dell running Winblows

You do realise the moment you open a post with something this childish and fanboy-like, I'm just going to take it as mindless drivel and hate speech.

If I opened up a comment with "OMG Crapple and $teve Job$!!'

Would you honestly respect a single thing I had to say below it?

I wonder how many people buy a new iDevice every time there is an update. There is enough product stratification right now.

I endured a year on the iMac. I learned to never buy a desktop Mac again. Do I get a patch for that? I see no need to apologize for not being an artist and able to see a vision. Otherwise minimalism and utilitarianism are art now.

Interesting..... "endured a year on an iMac" ;)

I've endured many years working one mine...... and quite happily too. :)

I don't think he has even purchased an iPad 2 yet. That is the thing if you are going to go around bashing everything else on the market and spend all of your on-line time glorifying Apple Inc. then you better be purchasing anything they come out with on the first day.

I bought an iPad 2 64GB WiFi to replace my iPad 1 32GB WiFi. The main reason I did is because I wanted more storage space and the lighter design. Performance doesn't matter quite as much for me because I don't really use it for gaming. So far it seems like I get less of the checkered blanks when I am scrolling down so it seems there is an improvement in webpage rendering speed.

The cameras are crap quality, but it is nice to have them on there. Overall it is a nice device that replaces a laptop for me.

I'm just pointing out the results of third-party customer satisfaction surveys.

A lot of people embrace misery and make little attempt at improving their lives. Heck, look at obesity in the United States. Many people aren't taking responsibility for their own actions, even for something as fundamental as what they shove in their mouths. No one is pointing a gun at your head and telling you to down a 2-liter bottle of Diet Coke and a box of Froot Loops. And don't give me any of this "poor people don't have access to healthy food" malarkey that you might read on some blog. The average person in Bangladesh eats healthier than the average American.

That said, Apple has been steadily increasing marketshare over the past few years.

Apple presumably put the lower end cameras in to keep their profit margin at the same price point. That's standard practice for Apple. They upgraded the processor, RAM, and form factor, but these weren't putting in their best cameras at that price.

The iPad 3 will have the same cameras as the iPhone 4 and a higher-res screen. Probably another speed bump as well. You never get everything you wish in a single upgrade, but you still get a significant improvement overall.

In the end, I think maintaining the same prices was the critical thing to keep the adoption of the iPad ahead of the competition.

It is something that I would not want to repeat again nor wish it on anyone else.

My MacBook had plummeted down to that device I run iTunes on. I have not used Time Machine on it in a month as it gathers dust.

The iPad becomes more interesting given its price point but it still lacks a multi-user space and deployment tools.

I think the true fact here is that Apple created this generation of tablets. Price, user experience, etc... aside. Apple is solely responsible for the new fangled tablet craze. The Xoom, Playbook, Samsung Tab, HP Touch Pad(Though some of these are still vapor), wouldn't exist were it not for the iPad, and it's huge success. Who would want to throw all of their chips into the tablet basket if the iPad had been a huge flop?!

What exactly do you do on your computer? Your comments are a bit perplexing.

I think this is very true. The same can be said for Android phones. If it wasn't for the success of the iPhone, would Google have come up with Android in the first place?

It's a lot easier to "innovate" when someone else as already given you the blueprint. ;)

Android was originally supposed to be a competitor to the blackberry OS, and looked almost exactly the same.

Wow...wish I hadn't spent the money on my Core i7 13" Macbook pro ...could have got two of these beasts :D :D :D

Maybe next time....

Your situation is exactly why I am still waiting on the tablet growth to flatten quickly like netbooks did.

Each year there will be new laptops, desktops, cell phones and now tablets. And for those of us with a passion for photography new DSLRs, mirrorless and lenses. And I'd like to be able to travel to many interesting places I haven't been to. So I can look with my own eyes at some of those amazing sights I see in prints or video.

Another 500 to 900 dollar device to add to the bucket list of wants? When other devices already overlaps some of it's functionality? I'll pass until I get a substantial raise or find a way to make a lot of money. But at that point would I actually get every new device? Or would I be out enjoying a new fast car or better yet flying my own plane?

Anyhow I think that one thing is clear. Apple made another smart strategic decision by going in house for their SoCs. If they had stayed off the shelf like eveyone else they would have had performance that's exactly the same. It would have also meant that their competitors would know ahead of time what general ball park of features apple was planning. By going I house they can watch their competition and one up them.

Well honestly the first Android prototypes were designed on an HTC phone, and it actually looked much like a modern day blackberry.

Of course The iPhone, and the fact that Eric Schmidt was on Apples board of directors had a lot to do with the way Android turned out.

P.S. What's also funny, is even when Android began to mature, Eric Schmidt could still be spotted using a BlackBerry.
