Incredible how all over the place the reports are. Live chat rep said "it's all up in the air. Apple is estimating 3-4 weeks" Yet some of you are hearing end of the week, 2-4 weeks, lmao. The madness that is the iPad 2 launch. Very messy.
After a 1.5 hour failed lineup attempt at the Chicago Apple Store (I actually made it in the building only to be rejected), I gave in and ordered a black 16gb at B&H.
The guy mentioned that they will try to fulfill all the orders this week, but next week for sure if possible. Saved 50 dollars worth of IL taxes. Hoping for great service as you guys mentioned above!

Umm, well considering my 32gb ipad is in a whole other state now, I dont think they lied, unless i get a box with bricks in it.
i just ordered iPad 2 AT&T 64GB + 3G - Black from B&H.
He said that they are going to have iPad 3G tomorrow from China and maybe i receive the iPad the next week.
If i don't receive the iPad the next week i can cancel my order.but i'm going to wait.
Is a good deal i just save 51.81in taxes.
And I'm going to buy the red smart cover with that
I have the 64GB + 3G first iPad i got a good deal they give me $530 for my iPad in gazelle i lock the offer so i have up to 30 days, now the offer is $398.
So i have until april 13
I send the iPad the first week on april or when i got the iPad 2.
PS: Do not pre-order the iPad 16GB White or Black of you are going to wait alot.
Do they charge your card when you order or only when it ships?
I just placed an order for a black 16gb Verizon iPad 2. The rep sounded very annoyed about this iPad 2 situation. He actually wasn't rude to me but just wasn't too happy about taking anymore calls about the iPad.
Im not sure about that one he only asked about the 32g wifi and they didn't have that so he got the 16g. That was after being at the apple shop in a queue for 2 hours and they only had the white 64g wifi left.
Shouldn't they fulfill all their back orders first before selling them in store? just wondering...
I personally really like BH but this time I ordered from apple should have thought about they first =(.
I once ordered a digital piano from them but I think the shipping company screwed up and the piano was un playable (the whole thing was bent). BH cover the shipping back to them and ship the new one right away! The only bad thing is that now I moved to west coast and it takes a long time for the shipping.
Anyhow congrats to those who will get theirs soon. I still wait for my apple.com order to get shipped =)

Has anyone who "preordered" an iPad 2 from B&H received a shipping notice?
When I placed a preorder on Sunday for a 64GB Wi-Fi (which they did not initially have in-stock, like the 16GB Black/32GB White), the sales rep said they would receive them this week. Yeah, yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. As of now my status is still backordered...

Placed an order this afternoon (3/15) for a 64GB Black ATT 3G model. Rep was also bullish with me about prospects for it shipping this week. I'm not holding out hope, but I'm guessing it won't be worse than the Apple Store (4-5 weeks, seriously?!), and there's no tax to boot if you're outside NY state!
I bit the bullet and ordered from B&H today. Ordered a 32gb Black, wifi-only model. Tired of going to the Apple store and they never have stock. Was in line on Saturday, 6th in line, and all they had were white ones, and a few 16gb black ones (even though they said before I walked in they had my model. I get inside, and surprise, they don't). Most units they got in were all White, other than a few 16gb black ones. Was there again today, 8th in line, they only had 4 available. I think they could have been returns or crappy backlight bleeds ones that people gave back, because what Apple store only gets orders that small.
I called a few Best Buys as well, they never have any in. You can put down 100 bucks and get in a queue, but I heard most best buys are getting in very small, limited shipments after the launch day. I think the wait would be long there too. Ordering from Apple is pointless as the wait there is 3-5 weeks before they even ship, much less get to you, which also coincides with their international launches.
I think B&H is the best bet it seems. I just hope I don't get one with the backlight bleeding issue and have to ship it all the way back to New York.
Going to try the "set it and forget it" program, and not worry about it until B&H tells me it finally comes in and they're shipping. Incidentally, 2-day air shipping with them was only 12.50! Good deal, and no taxes!

You don't have to ship it back to NY unless you really want to return it for refund. Apple should exchange it in any Apple store.
I think in retrospect, glad that I ordered from B&H. I live in Cali and tax here is almost 10%. First of all I saved almost $38 and I will get my iPad tomorrow!!
In fact I am going to order every iDevice from them going forward to save tax unless of course Amazon is also selling those items!
Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it. B&H has been great over the years, and I've purchased many things from them. But, it seems too good to be true that they're 2 days into taking orders and are still suggesting they'll ship this week. With promises like that, I get the feeling it will be much longer for those who "preordered", even for those who did so on Sunday.
