If you preorder, they're not waiting to charge your card until it ships. They charge your credit card the full amount when the order is placed.

EDIT: For the Canadians, which I am, I just shipped it to Ship Happens in Sumas, WA. I think there's a bunch of them.

I called to change my shipping. The guy told me that the 2day air $13.08 would ship on Monday, where as the ground 2-3 shipping would ship Teusday..
i just got an email saying that mine was shipped today. it even had the UPS shipping confirmation number.
plus mine was just shipped ground so i guess they are pretty efficient

I got a guy named Jeffery, he said to check back tomorrow because they may get more then.
Just got an e-mail stating it shipped. Supposed to make it to Boulder, CO on 3/17, I went for 3-day instead of 2-day, which makes me kind of sad. Thanks again to the OP, you are my hero!
I'm glad so many people benefited from my post. I considered posting it on slickdeals but knew that there are a lot of resellers there and wanted people that were going to use it to have it. 🙂

I think that basically means pre-order. And the guy I talked to said it is quite possible more will arrive tomorrow. It seems like only the 16GB WiFi Black were the guaranteed ones in stock and the others were available for pre-order.

This certainly beats my pre-order from Apple! I was scheduled for my iPad to arrive on April 15th through Apple. B&H: March 15th!

I think you are going on trust basically. I mean, some Best Buys are saying possibly Monday for new shipments. Even a I know of Target too is predicting that. I don't know much about B&H, but maybe they are big authorized reseller like those folks and get shipments regularly.
I ordered a black 16 GB WiFi this morning so I doubt it's pre-ordered. He said they were in stock so I am assuming I should get a shipping notice soon hopefully.
Order started at 1:07 PM New York time, so 9:07 AM here.
Also, it only has an order started at time, the completion time is blank.
EDIT: Tried to ask live chat and the guy was pissy. I asked what the various order status' were (e.g. New Order Processing->Packaged-> Shipped, etc) and he told me that my order status is "You ordered, we'll ship it whenever we get it."
