While the parts didn't represent the iPhone 5...

How do you know that?
My guess is they DO represent the iPhone 5, it will be a small step like from 3G -> 3GS, keeping the same great design, but with minor improvements.
The SIM slot suggests it will be a 'world phone' thanks to Qualcomm chipsets.

Anyways that's not where the debate should be. I was just refering to the fact that a white iPad would not have better specs than a black one, apart from being more "hype" ;)

Well that's true haha figured I'd throw in my .02 anyways, however I would like to see a white iPad option. And hopefully it wouldnt turn out to be akin to the mysterious white iPhone 4 :p

Awesome! :D So... If the screen of the iPad 2 is roughly three times the price of the old one, it might not be much of a stretch to think that it will be 2048x1536 after all. It's pretty exciting stuff! I hope it's true!

Yeah, and if the price is this high, they'll have to be pretty aggressive and lower the margins a lot to keep the same price range of the current one.

Vibrating motor is for incoming FaceTime calls. Obvious.

Well, the iPod touch has FaceTime and no vibration... I think it should have tho, as many games use it, but maybe they can't fit the motor in a super thin design like that...

The iPad in the other hand can easily fit a motor like that and it would be very useful for games, FaceTime, Skype, etc...:)

EDIT: About your affirmation... that is only the case in additive synthesis (using colored spotlights on a stage, for example). When using substractive synthesis (paint), the opposite is true.

sorry to be pedantic:
ink behaves as a filter (red ink on your page reflects ONLY red light from the broad spectrum light being cast on it and absorbs the other parts of the spectrum). combining many filters (all colors, let's say) will filter out all light (thus black). White is always the presence of all colors of light and black is always the absence of colors of light, just as red is the presence of red whilst absence of all others. but yea 'substractive synthesis' works as a good definition as well.

Hey Arn, do you know any of the guys over at Anandtech? Maybe you could ask them to pen a few paragraphs hashing out the feasibility of all these 4x pixel iPad rumors.

Lots of opinions here on MacRumors, I'd love to hear a little expert testimony.

Fabulous idea!

For me the iPad is going to end up being one of those devices that I end up buying each generation.

I wonder if Apple will use the same LCD/Glass glueing technique that they used in the iPhone4? It would be nice, as my iPad has a spec of dust under the glass that drives me a bit crazy sometimes.

If so, I wonder if this part would include that glass, which could also explain the increased expense (higher rez aside).

edit: on second thought. probably not, it would be obvious if it was glued to the glass, as the photo would have to show the bezel.

Same. Who buys a first gen anything from apple?

Man... I bought the first gen at launch, used it a lot and really enjoyed having it. Now I sold it (couple of weeks ago) for the same price I paid... the money is gonna be enough for buying the next one, so... what's the problem?
