Boy, I'm glad that I DID buy 1st Gen! Got more than my money's worth.
Laughing even harder.

The coolest thing about the iPad 1 relative to the iPad 2 is that it came out a year earlier. Sure, stuff gets better all the time, but that doesn't mean you should never buy what's available now. I bought a maxed-out 13" MBA before leaving for Japan because I wanted something light that didn't totally suck as a main computer. I don't do anything graphics-intensive or CPU-intensive and I have been quite happy with it so far. Will a better one come out soon? Yes, absolutely. Probably a much better one too, but I don't really care. I needed a laptop now and I now have one. I'll upgrade when I feel it's worth it. No big rush.

Oh god. its the white iphone 4 all over again!

 White iDevices to not exist! White iDevices do not exist!

A new reason to live!!! I waited -in vain- for that white-unicorn-dust tale of the infamous iphone 4. Dashed - I now can hope- dare I say - dream! - of the whimsical browsing I could do in an oyster-pearl-perfect iPad white.

hmmmmm.... white iDevices...

higher than full HD

I had heard a rumor that the next version of iPad would have a higher than full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) and along with the new camera Apple would be touting it as the "world's highest resolution viewfinder".

Of course with the ability to play full 1080 HD, who would need Blu-ray disks??

Sounds like this may actually be true.

Starting off with 1080p content would be helpful. Isn't Apple calling 720p "HD" today?

I wonder if the "home" button will match the bezel, and if the bezel is an opaque enough white to hide the parts inside.

Given the display cost, I think it's more likely that we'll see both an iPad2 and an iPad2 Pro.

hahaha They should start doing with the iPad the same they did with the original CRT iMac... all sorts of different colors and textures! :D hehehe

I'm all for it. Black, white... dull. Let's get some design and color going on these things! You can have them engraved, why not custom paint schemes?

Kinda funny how defensive some of the iPad owners are just cause something newer and better is on the near horizon. So what if people are making comments about waiting for the 2nd gen. If you like your original iPad then why is it necessary to make comments about waiting for Gen 10??

Hey Arn, do you know any of the guys over at Anandtech? Maybe you could ask them to pen a few paragraphs hashing out the feasibility of all these 4x pixel iPad rumors.

Lots of opinions here on MacRumors, I'd love to hear a little expert testimony.

Since when is Adandtech associated with expert testimony? At best he is an Intel rep disguised as a blogger/ web site owner.

Frankly some of the speculation seen in these forums is more reasoned than the articles on that site.

If this LCD is for ~$200, then its not a super-high-rez IPS display (maybe eIPS, but still doesn't fit the price)

Because?

man... I bought the first gen at launch, used it a lot and really enjoyed having it. Now i sold it (couple of weeks ago) for the same price i paid... The money is gonna be enough for buying the next one, so... What's the problem?

Not really. the old screen cost 144 from that site in 2010. this new screen costs around 50% more than the old one did at launch.

And the new screen costs over 3 times as much as the current ipad screen right now. This price increase over the existing tech implies a big leap in quality. considering the other 2X ipad assets, it seems more likely that this screen is indeed much higher resolution.

I'd be more interested in Ars Technica's thoughts honestly.
