iPhone and iPad parts vendors have been a big source of leaks for Apple's upcoming devices. MacRumors reader @Frafoso has found a couple of very interesting parts on the website of GlobalDirectParts.

Notably, GlobalDirectParts is the same company that posted a video showing "iPhone 5 parts". That video was taken down at the request of Apple. While the parts were said to represent the iPhone 5, they were (mostly) accurate representations of the Verizon iPhone that was announced just weeks later.

The first part listed is the "iPad 2 LCD Screen" which is "out of stock" but is listed for a price of $218.19. For comparison, the company also sell the original iPad screen for only $63.35. We can't tell for sure when the part appeared on their site, but the image appears to have been uploaded this weekend after the 2048x1536 rumors broke.

The next interesting part is an iPad Vibrating Motor. No photo is provided, but it's a curious part since the iPad currently has no vibrating motor. It's possible this is simply a mislabeled iPhone part, but does raise the possibility of the feature making its way into the next iPad.

I really hope vibration makes its way to the iPod Touch and iPad, its nice to have all devices having the same hardware.

That was not the Verizon iPhone. The Verizon iPhone does NOT have a SIM slot. The units that GlobalDirectParts have do.

Hey Arn, do you know any of the guys over at Anandtech? Maybe you could ask them to pen a few paragraphs hashing out the feasibility of all these 4x pixel iPad rumors.

Lots of opinions here on MacRumors, I'd love to hear a little expert testimony.

Does anyone know anything about this globaldirectparts website? Have they been in business for a long time? Have they leaked anything that we've actually seen materialize? (Their website is taking forever to load. I guess it's getting hammered pretty badly by all the people who want to get a closer look at that iPad 2 screen.)

we know they leaked a video of "iphone 5" parts which was pulled at Apple's request.
we know the Verizon iPhone that was released was very close to the design in the video they leaked

Awesome! :D So... If the screen of the iPad 2 is roughly three times the price of the old one, it might not be much of a stretch to think that it will be 2048x1536 after all. It's pretty exciting stuff! I hope it's true!

White is made of all colors, black is the lack of color. Same reason we get rainbows, it's the white light splitting into every color :)

Anyways that's not where the debate should be. I was just refering to the fact that a white iPad would not have better specs than a black one, apart from being more "hype" ;)

EDIT: About your affirmation... that is only the case in additive synthesis (using colored spotlights on a stage, for example). When using substractive synthesis (paint), the opposite is true.

well, one nice thing to know is how much the iPad screen cost when the iPad was launched. Presumably the iPad screen now costs much less than on day #1.

iSuppli estimated it at $80 originally:
http://www.isuppli.com/Teardowns/Ne...eMaximumProfitsforApple,iSuppliEstimates.aspx

but that's not retail price, that's Apple's cost.
