Back to normal life.
I was 12th in line. We had to stand in line whole time untill 11am as I said. We got for family buy I am going back to try and get my 64gb 3G.
Edit: See my post #255 before wasting your time reading my non-sense. Target only seems to sell two models.
I live in Orange County and after a week of searching for an iPad 2 at retail price, I was successful this morning using the Target method. I’m serious, go to the Target thread that is posted in this forum to get an iPad 2. I arrived at the store about 10 minutes before opening (7:50am). Only a small asian lady, who oddly looked like my mother, was waiting by the door. I now have a Black, 32gb Wi-Fi only iPad 2 unopened on my desk currently, as-of 4:40p local time. With enough grease I might let this one go (I have a gift receipt that would go with it), but with enough reading you might get one cheaper, at full retail versus a mark-up, using the methods in the Target thread (which is posted in this forum!!!!). Before you flame this, keep in mind that you have the option to read outside this thread and jump to the Target thread (marked by a sticky). That is, unless you want one tonight without any more headaches, Thursday 3/17/2011. Then PM me and we’ll negotiate.

Also, for my fellow OC people: I forgot to mention that Target only seems to sell Black 32gb Wi-Fi and White 64gb AT&T models in southern California. So if you don't want either of those, then best of luck elsewhere! I know the pain of waiting without results

Well according to various reports online, stores that get inventory during the day, hold it until the next morning. So theoretically, shipments arriving today, should be available tomorrow morning.
IDK, guess I'll sacrifice sleeping in on a Saturday and get in line early in Irvine...

Yes, the odds are pretty bad unless you want to camp there overnight.
If you want an AT&T model like I do, the odds are even worse.
Placed my order online yesturday and will just wait it out.
I've waited in line 3 days this week. Monday at 7:45am, none. Tuesday at 5:45am, 2nd in line, they received 1 unit. Thursday at 5am, was 22nd in line, gave up. Placed an online order today for 2 units. Now it's just the waiting game. I may try to line up again for next Friday, since that's the international launch day.
I arrived at Fashion Island today at 4:15am. Found around 20 chairs in front of the Apple Store but there was no one there, so I thought people were cheating by saving the spot and going back home. Then the security guard came and told us no loitering in the mall, and to come back to the line at 6:00am. So I left a bag and some clothes to save the spot just as the others did. Fortunately, Starbucks was open already and we didn't have to wait outside in the cold for too long.
Came back to the line at 5:45am to find out that my bag was 22nd in the line. Apple guys started giving tickets around 8am and I was the first in line not getting one
They got around 40-45 units but people were greedy today and everyone bought two iPads. And there was this ******** guy messing around, convincing people to buy 2 units, trying to buy spots, tickets and iPads for a ridiculous premium ($50). I had the chance to buy the very last iPad, a 16GB Verizon White but I was looking for a Wi-Fi only version so I let the guy behind of me to go ahead and buy that last one.As always, no way to know if the are gonna receive anything, they get blank shipments and all that story from the Apple employees. In short: experience not worth repeating.
As someone wrote above, best thing you can do is just order online and be patient

WOW! I was there on Wednesday. I got there at 6:45 and I was 13th in line. The guy who was first, was there at 4:30. I can't believe 4:15 got you 22nd.
Did they only have Verizon again?

They had some WiFi models, but mostly Verizon. No AT&T models today at Fashion Island and I honestly don't think that they will be arriving soon...

That all sounds terrible. Which is really disappointing because I had planned on hitting up FI and Spectrum tomorrow (my gf @ 1 location, me at the other) around 5:00a. We're just looking for some 16gb wifi's, not too specific on color. I'm still tempted to go (mostly because I'm supposed to be using the iPad in a demo around April 7 and my online order won't arrive for ~2 weeks after that), but now I'm not sure how lucky I'll be.
