I have emailed this guy yesterday and tried calling. He does exist in the department stated.

Was in my local orange store today, not re one where I bought the device trying everything I could for a refund. Was told that there are notes on my account from the executive office that on no account shoul I get a refund as my device has been found to have no faults.

They have most defiantly set the line in the sand!!

Can't believe I only just thought of this....

I have an original iPad which I have had an Orange SIM in since day 1 last year (although I never used the 3G tbh)

If you like you can PM me the IMEI number of your iPad 2 and I'll try and get it unlocked through my account.

Up to you. No bother if you'd rather not share that info though, I understand.

What bastards!!!! I've been following this thread with interest, dont give up with the small claims and as others have said contact watchdog. Consumers aught to be made aware of Orange and their underhand ways!

Hi Tom,
*
I'm hoping I now have a resolution for you*)
*
Service Design have confirmed that your iPad has now been unlocked and I'm assured that if you put a non-Orange sim card into the iPad and plug it into a PC running iTunes, all should be well.
*
If there are any issues with it at all, we may have to restore the device via iTunes as a new device just to reset the software and settings, but this is just a fail-safe option now the unlocking action has gone through.
*
Can I possibly ask you to try the above and let me know the outcome please?
I am here till 22:00 tonight and if it would help I'll happily get one of my staff to call you and walk you through the process and confirm all is well.
*
Thanks

I had a major problem with Orange some time ago so I brought a Small Claims Action against. They thought they could defend the action by letter which did not impress the Sheriff and he awarded me a decree. I waited 14 days so they couldn't appeal and then sent them a letter asking them to pay up or I would send the Sheriff Officers in. Only then did their legal department send me a cheque (inc expenses and interest)

Orange seem to think that consumer legislation does not apply to them.

If you are still having problems get in touch and I can give you a contact email address for their legal department.

I also had an issue with them over an iPhone 4 but that's another story!

I see light......

Just spoke with Simon, what a nice chap he is and very helpful. He is on the case to get my device unlocked. It should never have been and there is an error in orange systems which cause it. Waiting for a call back tonight for update.

If he come good with this he will be recommended for a job in the executive office to replace the useless Wigglesworth.

Bbubacasto, I may be due you an $h!t load of beer!!!!

Watch this space.

Can I have a drum roll.....................

Simon is the man

How do you post pictures on here and I can show you.

Simon was the most helpful person at Orange I have ever dealt with. Possibly with any company I have dealt with.

RESULT

However, I just cant let my complaint lie. Will be chasing that and think Wigglesworth will now be the subject of a complaint for her poor customer relation skills.

Thanks for the kind offer but I have got a result.

If anyone else has any issue's with regard their full price unsubsidised Orange iPad 2 being locked feel free to contact me and I will provide the details of Simon who can resolve your problem Im sure bubbacasto would only be too happy to help too.

Got my iPAD at orange store Croydon

I walked in to the orange store today afternoon and asked if they have any iPADs in stock. i was expecting the usual 'NO' form them. However surprisingly they told me that they have just received the new stock and would begin selling it in an hours time. Thus i got my wifi-3g 16GB white on £5/month data rolling contract.
I would suggest try out the orange stores first thing tomorrow if possible

Sounds like a nightmare!! I always avoid high street phone stores if I can, they are total bandits!
I did not read through all the posts but, I do know that sealed iPads are unlocked,,,so this was true at the time of sale. The first sim card that is inserted and activated in iTunes then locks it to that carrier....(same reason as the genius activated your replacement iPhone at the bar with the sim you got with it originally)...so while they opened it and activated it in store, it then locked it to Orange....here's a tip to anyone buying from a high street phone shop,,,,NEVER let them activate it there,,,say you will do it at home,,,so if you do change your mind on the carrier (in this case you are buying a pay & go phone/sim combo), you are free to get a different sim. Contract phones are slightly different.
You have 14 days to return it in the UK, so hopefully you will have some success. Good luck.
Another tip...stick to buying at Apple Stores,,,even though there's a wait you will not be treated badly.

Edit: Just read you got it sorted! :)

Chuffed you got it sorted! Mine works like a dream on Vodafone now. However, Simon has restored my faith in customer services.

Glad it all got sorted for you.

I've seen a few success stories today via Twitter so it looks like Orange may be changing their policy (or at least becoming more open to the idea of unlocking)

Glad you got it sorted with someone that knew what was happening. But agreed dont let your complaint fall away.. If needed still take it to the Small Claims to get the cost of all the traveling about and phonecalls as well as the amount of time you wasted on it. Hopefully BBC will pick up on your story and run it on the first show.

Gavcur , could you please send me simon's email and telephone number as I'm facing the same issue !!

Thanks in advance mate
