1) A non-yellow screen. The white on both my iPhone 4S and iPad 2 are terrible - almost completely puke-yellow. And every other color is tinted with that same puke-yellow. I want be white to actualy be white again on Apple devices.

2) 4G LTE. You cannot really stream video from Netflix or a home PC on 3G without a LOT of stutter and pause. It'll be worse if it's Retina. LTE is more essential on the iPad than the iPhone because of screen size.

3) Either 128 GB storage option or a built in SD card slot that can be used for at LEAST direct video playback. The latter will never happen because there is no file system.

4) Retina display, if it does not distract from battery life and is exactly double the curent height and width pixel dimensions.

5) 1 GB Memory or the ability to NOT multitask if I don't want to without having to shut down each app every single time.

My guess is the only thing we get from the above list is Retina display. Notice that I didn't say faster processor. That would be fine, but the iPad 2 is plenty fast enough.

No upgrade

I definitely won't be upgrading from my iPad 2, I actually can't say anything bad about it.

Honestly, nothing. I just upgraded from the iPad to the iPad 2 about a month ago, so I will probably stick with it even when the iPad 3 is released. Even if the retina display is introduced, that will not sway to sell my iPad 2.

Retina screen (if not resolution doubled in each direction, then at least 50% resolution bump).

More RAM (yes I still run into issues on the iPad 2.

Actual file system to replace my Dropbox/dropDAV/documents workaround (admittedly this is iOS, not iPad dependent).

I agree. iOS needs some way to share files amongst applications. If I create a document in Pages or Numbers or Keynote or some third party application why can't I easily see it in iBooks or Goodreader, just for example.

I somehow think that Apple doesn't want this. They want to say that you have books and photos and videos and music and presentations and spread sheets and they all live in separate applications so you don't need to share them.

That philosophy led them to come up with the media tabs in the inspectors in Keynote and Pages and Numbers and iMovie. They hide the file system and give you access to what they think you need. This is convenient, but incomplete. What if I need something non-standard? What if I want to drag in some text I took as notes in a third party program to use in a Keynote presentation. I have to use cut and paste as there is no way to find a .txt file from Keynote.

Kudos to Apple for trying to think around the file system, but they need to give us access to our data somehow.

The one thing I'd really like to have is the ability to manage and move files on and off external hardrives. I know this is unlikely to happen due to file system restrictions etc; but it would really facilitate not requiring a computer for management of photos away from home.

The only other thing, which is not iPad 3 dependent, is a dedicated Aperture application, where the hell is this? Come on Apple.

A sophisticated new single IFP logic edge-mounted camera that can take an image from just about any direction, with improved resolution.

Eight inch model (standard res)

SD type card slot: this would allow Apple to ship just one storage-size model, cutting their product line by two thirds, or possibly sell a 32Gb model for $500.us and the SD-slot version for $100 more. If they were to make 3/4G a plug-in option, the line-up would get even smaller (just two versions and two colors – unless they have a sudden desire to go all candy/fruit).

Hi-res screen is my #1 priority, and I can't wait to see the sharpness of iPhone 4 on the iPad display.

On a side note, iPad was the one Apple product I did not own because of the screen, until last week when I won one at a raffle at work... Having used it for past few days, it just makes we want iPad 3 all that much more.

Same for me. Can't wait for a retina screen iPad.

Siri would be very interesting on the iPad and then have it sync with the iPhone and Mac OS would be very interesting as well.

I would like to see tighter integration on the software side of things. I also want some kind of iDisk or cloud storage option with iCloud.

I already am trying to convince myself not to but the iPad 3 as I'm completely satisfied with the 2 and anticipate that it'll fit my fablet needs for a few more years. I said the same thing when I had the original though ;)

The retina display would be nice but somehow I obtained an iPad 2 with a decent screen and I have a 4S. A retina in 10inch form would be beautiful, though.

For all those clamoring for Retina Display - yeah, that would be nice, but the quality of the rest of the screen is even more important. Color accuracy, contrast, black level, viewing angle - all these things are pretty poor on the current crop of Apple screens compared to Samsung's super-amoled. I'd wish they focus more on these screen issues.

Exactly. It may be that they just haven't "figured it out" - how to do this in an Apple way that combines simplicity and convenience with power and flexibility. I just don't know that I can ever get away from my convention of saving documents by subject matter, rather than by file type. Until then, or until Apple really gives us a great solution, I will continue to store my documents in a folder structure that makes sense to me, and use Dropbox and dropDAV to access stuff as needed.

Retina display, better camera and more RAM. A6 processor would be good too.
Don't really care about the thickness, as long as it's not too thick.
It could also be a little lighter, but I doubt we'd get that.

EDIT: Siri would also be a plus, but not a deal-breaker.

Double the resolution and I will sell my 2 and buy a 3 in a heartbeat. Any other changes would be a bonus.

Higher resolution screen. I'll be selling my iPad2 just for that reason. I do not need a much faster chip now, but I read a LOT on my iPad and a sharper text display would be very welcome.

Not being tied to iTunes and not being only able to run Apps Apple approve of.

Guess I'm in for a long wait :(

My wife is the feature that will make me upgrade to iPad 3. She want's my iPad, and will buy the 3 when it comes out so she can have it. :)
