This is Apple's business strategy. Dish out a new model at least every year with just enough to make many want one. Then release the next slight upgrade about a year later. This is why they are making so much money.

Man, people are never happy.

Dual cameras
Dual core
More ram (given)
Better cover
etc etc

What did you expect?

Agree. The new cameras for facetime and video are nice. Thinner size is great. But really hoping for thinner bezel and retina display.

What an anti climax

Like the title says. For the most part, today's announcements made up one large non event. Nothing to encourage me to upgrade my ipad1 and little else worth talking about. Maybe were expecting too much

No, not surprised. iPad 2 will keep Apple at the top of the market for now, but not for the next 12 months. Look for iPad 3 Fall 2011 - that's going to be the real tour-de-force.

Fixed that for ya....

I would agree that this was a slight upgrade and I'm perfectly OK with it. A major overhaul would've been a new screen, 1GB memory and 128GB storage option.

It's a lot better upgrade than I and many others had dared to suggest.

Dual core A5 and SGX543 is a nice surprise.

I would dare to speculate that there is 1GB of Ram where as I would have sworn it would only go to 512mb previously and look forward to the inevitable teardown in the forthcoming time.

See that's the thing. Can't give you too much so the iPad 3 will have better display, 1gb ram, 2.0 dual core, etc. better cameras. Got to keep people buying the newest product and not skipping an year.

Given how out of touch with reality people's demands were, I'm not really that surprised those people are calling this version a 'slight upgrade'.

They did a complete redesign. That is not a silent upgrade.
It's not an OMG epic upgrade, but it is more than silent upgrade. Please use the term I think instead of just saying. It is a silent upgrade. What you think and what others think could be different.

Why does apple try to pull stuff like this?

"Today we're introducing iPad 2. All-new design...not tweaked, not marginal improvements."

What is not tweaked? What is not a marginal improvement? Please tell me how copying the back of the iPod is an "all new design"

Please tell me Apple..

Why do you say stuff like that to get your audiences hope up, when you're only going to reveal you're lying off your b-hole 3 minutes later?

Furthermore, I dont see why jobs thought it was necessary to show up for such a lame event. Maybe to save it ?

I bought an iPad for use as an e-reader, and have been pretty pleased with it overall. My main gripe has been the weight, so the iPad2 is a no-brainer. I just need to offload my iPad1 first...

No its not. If anything they will up the resolution and thats about it. The next big upgrade to ipad will be iOS5 this summer. Not sure what you wanted out of iPad2 that wasnt there. We knew higher resolution was not happening because they cant mass produce higher res screens right now.

How about:

Three cameras
Triple core
More more ram (given)
Much better cover
etc etc etc

Yep. That would have done it.

Though for me personally, this is a nice upgrade.

What on Earth are you saying? If incremental annual upgrades keep people buying the newest product and stop people from skipping a year, so would huge annual upgrades.

The dual core A5 was pretty much a widely accepted rumor, as were the cameras and even the form-factor.

I don't think it was a slight upgrade though, as they pretty much upgraded every possible aspect of the iPad.

Not sure what you were expecting from that comment. Maybe that they were going to make it circular rather than rectangular?
