Thought this was in order...

Image fail. He's putting sunglasses over sunglasses?

Seriously, if magnetic attraction doesn't magically decrease. I predict no FAIL here. Yall are just wimps.

LOL, the sunglasses over sunglasses is part of the "Horatio 4 panel" meme. It's supposed to be that way. (believe it, or not!)

As far as trying this out -- I don't think I'd ever try. As Horatio says, "It's a recipe for disaster..."

Wrong thread to complain i know...but why the heck did apple choose to push a protector that leaves the back exposed? I know the whole "look at me, i can take my screen protector on and off so easily" thing is cool...but having the back of your beautiful iPad 2 look like BRUSHED ALUMINUM (not in a good way) is NOT. Whew, I need a Tylenol :p

OH NO!!!!!

I tried this and it fell and the screen broke!

It smashed into pieces and my wife ran to see and SHE CUT HER FOOT on the glass!!!!!. Then on the rush to the doctor WE HIT AN OLD LADY!!!.

DON'T DO THIS!!!!

posted from my iPhone (from jail).

I wasn't sure if I wanted an iPad 2, but then I saw the refrigerator thing.

That looks awesome!

Maybe it would stay put if the cove was flipped all the way around. I saw picture of it on a 'fridge with the cover hidden. It looked pretty sturdy.

I'm not sure of Magnets near electronics though. I had a magnetic case for my Android G1. It screwed up the compass.

its just pretty...

I'll admit this much, the Smart Covers for the iPad 2 are sexy, sexy, and sexy, as are all of Apple's products. However, don't you guys feel that Apple sacrifices looks for function?

The Smart Cover only covers 1/2 of the iPad 2. Don't any of you find that problematic? You can read up some more about it here: goo.gl/aExGx

it works...! huahaha... :D

If this is for real then it says a lot about the strength of the magnets that are on the side to hold up the ipad 2. I am impressed. :D

Recommend trying that with a Stainless Steel refrigerator. :D

Not then either. Stainless steel is not ferromagnetic! Some ferromagnetic material is added (to the surface? -- thin) to allow refrigerator magnetics to stick, and those don't weigh 1+ lbs, and don't cost $500+.

Well that certainly is one idea for where I can put the Ipad while doing dishes and cooking.

Although, it would probably be just as stable rolling the magic pad up as a stand and then standing it on top of a metallic Toaster Over.

Maybe wall mounting a metal shelf that can receive magnets, and using the smart cover as a stand to secure it to the shelf would be a really safe way to display it in a kitchen?

Time saver

And pair it with a bluetooth wireless camera and you can see what's in the fridge WITHOUT opening the door. That would be a timesaver!

It would be like having XRay vision.

Impressive

What I think is impressive about this is the fact that the magnets on the smart cover are THAT strong (to keep hold of the iPad like that). I haven't tested one in person and I was scared that the magnets would be too weak but I guess not.

It's strong as long as the pull on the magnets is straight. Pull it at an angle or give it a slight twist, and it comes off immediately.

iPad 2 fridge installation

I tried this, too. Keeps slipping a bit, but it's a pretty firm magnetic hold. Haven't tried opening the door, though. Fugetabout it. :p
