I think 2 is more than early enough. I know some people get there at 5ish and picked one up- Marco Arment of Instapaper turned up at 5 and got what he wanted. But I want to soak up the atmosphere I've never been to a product launch before, save Harry Potter 7 book, but we'll keep that quiet!
As for the store, yes Exeter is an official Apple Store, so it will have free WiFi and hence why they'll have greater supply. As for standing just sit on the floor! The worst they can do is tell you not to. We should have a secret sign for us folk so we can hang out in the line and go on coffee runs!
And yes, I'm really excited, I held off on the original iPad so this is 12 months of anticipation!

Ah brilliant on the free wifi! That'll make it much more enjoyable! As for coffee, I'm bringing a friend, we'll be the ones with the Waitrose picnic! Just let me know on here if you need us to get you anything when we go! I hope you're right about 2 pm being early enough. I'll be heartbroken otherwise lol. Fortunately the 64gb wifi doesn't seem to be the most popular, although I'm now toying with the idea of a 3G version! And STILL can't decide which smart cover to get!

Recommend Chandos around the corner for food, and, of course, there's a Starbucks on the main High Street.
Oh, the WIFI only reaches a short distance from the shop, sonetimes as far as the bench outside if the signal's good.

Hmm, just phoned Stormfront Truro and although they'll definitely have stock, they're not sure what models or quantity they'll have yet, so my hopes of 'doing it local' might be diminishing...
I might have to make the arduous two hour journey to Exeter afterall. I'm thinking 11.30 -12pm should be early enough given that it's a fully fledged Apple store? Also, on the off chance, does anyone have any idea of the price of a taxi between the town centre and Exeter St Davids train station? I'd rather avoid having to wait around for a connection from Central post-closing time if my wallet stretches far enough.

A cab from St David's shouldn't cost you more that £5, otherwise it is about a 20 min walk.

I was thinking of bringing a chair... Do you reckon there will be room for them in the queue? Don't fancy standing/sitting on the floor for hours! Thanks for the update by the way. Hopefully there won't be any til tomorrow morning at the earliest. I am getting worried about arriving at 2 now.
Note. This is pure speculation on my part and may be based on bad geographical knowledge.
The Exeter store serves about half of Devon and Cornwall. The other half of Devon will go to the Bath/Bristol stores etc. I would suggest that Exeter is one of the most off-the-beaten-track stores in the country, and so we can expect perhaps the smallest queues. I would put money, not a lot, on folk not turning up until after lunchtime tomorrow.
The London stores of which I think there are 4 have to serve 8 million folk. (At least!) plus, it's London, ours has to serve probably around 1 million.

I want my iPad 2 And I can't afford to order online tonight and run the risk of it being taken out of my bank account twice if I manage to buy in the shop. Argh. Heh, I hope what I'm saying is true. I'm writing a report up at the moment, and instead of procrastinating with Angry Birds etc. I've been working out my line of attack for this iPad, and speculating far too much. I think my levels of nerdness are at their highest levels yet, and you know what? I'm okay with that, because I'ma gonna get my hands on an iPad 2 tomorrow!

I'm so excited, it's untrue! Can't imagine I'll get a lot of sleep tonight, which is annoying, because the night won't half drag! Yeah, stressed may be a bit of an exaggeration! Just nervous, and excited. I too have my iPad 1. Like you said, I just don't want to go all that way and wait for so long and go away with nothing. Hopefully they'll let us know relatively quickly about stock levels. At least then we'll know if we'll get our hands on what we want.
I'll be the girl who looks about 14 (but is actually 21) in the blue, pink and brown check coat who is trying to fit deck chairs into the queue haha! Definitely say hi. Are you coming with anyone? I'm so glad my friend's coming with me, makes coffee and loo breaks so much easier!
I've never been to a launch either, though I'm already planning it for the iPhone 5. I didn't go the iPhone 4 one as I had just signed up for a new contract with an HTC Desire. That was a mistake! Sold it and went running back to the iPhone 4 about a month after launch. And the iPad 1, I had convinced myself I didn't need one, then again, realised my mistake and made an emergency trip to Exeter Apple Store the week after launch. Actually, thinking about that, they obviously had stock for that, which was quite close to launch, so maybe we will be alright tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
I'm nervous enough about getting there for 12pm-ish! It's a two hour train journey...I think I'll be distraught if I'm left with nothing tomorrow!
A couple of my friends have the desire, I can't stand it, after 2 years of using the clean iOS, there's no way I ever want to use anything else!
As for checking the stock levels, the nice chap I spoke to at the store on the phone- Toby- said there will be staff going down the queue asking folk what they want and saying whether they have them or not, so if they don't we won't have to wait hours to be dissapointed!
Tomorrow is my Mum's birthday, so I'm taking her out to lunch, like any good son should, then getting into the queue, I think she's planning on going shopping/seeing some friends.
You have no idea how tempting it's been in the months since October that I've been earning money and I've been into Apple Stores and thinking I could buy it now. It's been hard to wait until now. But this time tomorrow...

That's certainly good to know. I had a terrible image of waiting until 5 and only then finding out that the level of stock won't be such to accommodate me.
I'm really hoping for a 32gb Wifi (doubt I'll need more space, and I'd really like a Smart Cover, too), though I've just checked my credit card and I have literally JUST enough for a 64 by itself if circumstances conspire against me... Colour? I think I'd like white, but I'm not letting such a frivolous detail deny me an iPad 2 tomorrow.
Yay Angry Birds! I'll be relying on games like that to get me through what I'm pretty sure will feel like a very long wait! I'm not tired at all dammit, so it's going to be a long night too. Think I'll watch the madness that ensues on the UK thread when the online ordering goes live!
